Year longer than I would have liked, but I like it.

I don’t understand why people don’t like the term? It’s right through the prime of his career.

Sounds like Laughton signed with the Flyers.

Flyers have re-signed Scott Laughton, five years x $3 M AAV

Tells you what they think of Tanner, Allison and some others.

If it is indeed $3M for 5 yrs, then I like it.

I thought the plan was to establish an agreement but not actually sign anything until after the expansion draft so they wouldn't have to protect him. I guess the Flyers didn't want him to ever reach FA where teams could officially negotiate and potentially raise the price.

Yup. Laughton must really want to stay with this team, even with the state of mediocrity that permeates.
- BroadSTmayhem

Why would you want to leave this country club atmosphere? No accountability. 5 coaches in how many years? The mediocrity rule the roost.

Still a chance the Flyers sign Pavelski when he is 39!

Not really.

Who would you like to see playing his minutes? Laczynksi just got called up, Allison could be too soon but he is coming off multiple injuries and loss of development time so they aren't going to rush him as much as I even like the kid. Frost is hurt.

They will lose a roster player in expansion draft so who would you prefer over him?

Guy like tanner and the like are supposed to replace the Laughton's of the world.

I don't care who they lose in the ED as it wont have any overall effect on any future success.

At least he plays like he gives a poop. At 3 mil....? A bit less then I thought he might get.

When you go 12 games in a row without scoring a point during the most crucial stretch of the season...maybe you should take what you can get

I wouldn't say the "master plan is unraveling". Covid changed a lot of what you can do now with the flat cap. Also a lot of the "long term" deals hurting the Flyers were inherited. I think Fletcher has actually stayed the process. He hasn't moved any top prospects or top end picks in bad deals. Did he maybe put too much hope in his younger players, probably. Did he not make a move to replace Niskanen, yeah but he also didn't go out and make a bad deal either just to fill his spot. I think some changes are needed moving forward but I can't sit here and kill Fletcher.
- J35Bacher

Covid can't be used as an excuse in my opinion. Every team is dealing with the same situation. This is not about Covid. As I said in my post at the very beginning. This is not about blaming Fletcher. As I've said in the past, he was hired with a mandate. The same mandate he likely has now as I can't imagine that Scott is very happy. If they continue to escalate and overreact to this season, I can see that going very badly long term.

Going through cap friendly to see what players in the league have a similar cap hit. Not sure why some think its an overpay or a bad signing. Seems pretty in line for a top 9 forward in this league.

I get the frustrations, I share them with you, but we were the furthest thing away from a sucky team last year.

Unless you’re a legit top 6 forward you don’t get more than 3 years in my opinion. I guess it’s cheap enough tho.

So Laughton is here for the foreseeable future. Musical chairs starts now for the other forwards. No way are they coming back with this slop and expecting people to spend money on this team.

Myers may have started with Provorov, but he was moved to other pairs and he didn't work out with any partner he was with. Why is this? Its because the types of mistakes Myers make are lot more than positioning, its about heart and coachability and this is what is extremely concerning about him. Myers has size but doesn't use it. He shies away from contact and is not willing to take a hit to make a play. This is not something you can teach, you either have this or you don't. According to AV, Myers has also been difficult to coach, not grasping the system they want him to play. Maybe he can play better in a another system but he does not look like a fit here, unless many things change.
- jd250

Part of Myers issues this year as I talked about before was consistency in his physical play and being hard on the puck game in and game out. I agree there is concern there but not uncommon for a young inexperienced defenseman. I would disagree that he is unwilling to take a hit to make a play. Myers has had many games where was physical and strong on the puck. He just needs to learn to be consistent in that effort. I would also disagree that he is not a fit here.

I could have swore Laughton was going to test free agency.
