I wouldn't say the "master plan is unraveling". Covid changed a lot of what you can do now with the flat cap. Also a lot of the "long term" deals hurting the Flyers were inherited. I think Fletcher has actually stayed the process. He hasn't moved any top prospects or top end picks in bad deals. Did he maybe put too much hope in his younger players, probably. Did he not make a move to replace Niskanen, yeah but he also didn't go out and make a bad deal either just to fill his spot. I think some changes are needed moving forward but I can't sit here and kill Fletcher.

Maybe not beat him up and kill him and it is tough to make trades with the current situation but other teams are managing. He has not made a trade in well over a year, what is he doing to make the team better if he is not trading anyone?

He’s not making a move just because it’s the trade deadline, this season needs to be digested and I fully expect there to be turnover his off-season

I don't know. I could Aube-Kubel, kind of like Bellemare was. I could see possibley JVR or VOracek if they need some player to help the team offensively early on and also they do need some players with cap to get to the floor.

I can see NAK going sure.

But did Vegas take any big contracts just to get to floor? I don't remember. I think if they take one of those 2, they will ask for a lot of sweetening.

Kings just extended Iafallo at 4 yrs $4M AAV. I think that's pretty good news as it relates to Laughton, as I would expect him to cost less.

Look at the trades. most seem to be the teams going for the win now or teams that are tearing it down rebuilding and using cap space as a weapon.

Deals that change the teams make up significantly usually happen in the offseason or deals at the draft.

Not bad, a little lower than what I expected. Traded aav for years and security I would imagine.

Laughton has signed...waiting on numbers.
- landros 2

Ok that means no trades will take place, probably spent the whole time working on deal.

Laughton signs, players will be relieved they didn't get traded, team will go on a 7 game win streak then crap the bed like usual. Then everyone will sing "The sun will come out tomorrow...."

I actually thought cap might be higher after seeing the Iaffalo deal. I don't mind it.

Yup. Laughton must really want to stay with this team, even with the state of mediocrity that permeates.

I’m fine with the 5 years. If we can get the Laughton back from last year, 3M is great.

NHL Radio guys a little iffy about the term, but think that cap hit is reasonable.

Yeah. Considering that Laughton is only 26 now, it’s not a bad deal. It’s a good supporting role contract.

Could it simply be what the market is dictating right now? He already stated he wasn't getting many calls about players and teams didn't want to take on term right now, due to a flat cap and the expansion draft. I'd be willing to bet any moves will be made in the offseason, post expansion draft.

Certainly seems that way. I would have preferred 3.5 x 3, but if the cap goes up in a few years, it will be a more than manageable deal.

I like the deal a lot, need players like Laughton to win...now they just need to work on the other players.
