I’m blown away that Ghost isn’t attractive to a contender. He shouldn’t be attractive to keep in Philly because I think we’ve done all we can with him.

You’re blown away? No one wanted him for free

I think the expectations for Chuck need to settle down. It’s absolutely insane to think he’s just sitting on his hands not working phones. All GMs do. The reality is it takes two teams to make a trade (and cap space). Making a trade for the sake of making one is extremely foolish.

I have actually turned around on Gostisbehere. Paired with the right guy and playing like he has recently I think you have to keep him unless you get a good return. He has played well.

I cant believe I have to point this out, but after reading your dumbass response Im not surprised.

Gostisbehere 2 years left at after this season at 4.5 per.

Victor Mete a pending RFA at 735k.

If you cant figure that out then I dont know what else to say.

Many insiders indicated third party teams are willing to jump on for a draft pick to help broker the deal and retain salary like the sharks did with Foligno deal

Mete is interesting but Vatanen isn't that good. We'd be running him out Philly in no time if he were here.

I thought Raffl would actually be moved. With Lazcynski called up the Flyers have some bottom 6 guys that they can play I thought maybe Raffl could be dealt for a mid round pick

I had a conversation with Tomahawk about Myers stepping up and replacing Niskanen. I said I had doubts. I'm not knocking Tomahawk because I believe he was trying to be optimistic. I'll never knock that. However he isn't ready for that and it has set him back.
- MJL

I made the awful mistake of assuming the rest of the d-corps would at least play up to or at least within the ballpark of their 2020 level. They've all been so bad

Still an hour left. There really hasn’t been a ton of activity across the board though. It’s not like everyone is wheeling and dealing and the flyers are staying put. I guess we will see what happens in the final hour. My guess is nothing will happen though.

Really haven’t seen Raffls name all day in rumors which is odd. Maybe he’ll be a target for teams who missed out on their 1st target in the final hour.

That’s the worst part of this season. So many regressed and didn’t at least maintain their level of play.

I guess I am confused at what your saying? So the Flyers were wrong to think Couturier was a top line center? You keep saying keep Giroux at center but the "long term"plan was to keep him on the wing. The "long term"goal was to have Couturier, Hayes and Patrick down the middle for the next couple years.

Needless to say, Patricks health came into question last year.

- J35Bacher

If you draft in the middle, like Hextall was doing, your rebuild will take time. You need a greater volume of picks to have some pan out.

The rational thing to do summer before last was to stay put on the course they were in. The time had not come yet. No big contracts. Get more picks, let young players develop. Get closer to the expiry of JVR/Jake contracts, then see what you have with the young guys.

If you really cannot bear to have Giroux as your 2C, trade/sign an older vet on a 3 year deal to bridge the gap. Don't sign a guy for 7 years at 7 with a NTC!

(I did not ever say anything about long term plan including Giroux on the wing btw).

I don't see them making the playoff this year, so it may be best to not make a mistake for the sake of making a trade.

Way too early to get rid of a young Dman, and in a flat cap nobody is taking on a big contract.

Myers was awful in his own role tho, had nothing to do with playing on the top pair. The D core just regressed and add in the loss of Niskanen, close the book.

Yeah, but don't the Flyers take turns every year to see who regresses? Giroux has a down year, Voracek leads in points. Following year the reverse. Konecny has a decent step up year then slumps while Farabee picks up the year. I guess Farabee will look terrible next year.

It has not been a very good year for Fletcher. I do see them trying to do something in the summer. Judging by what some of the payouts have been today and yesterday in trades there were deals there if he wanted to make them or thought they would help....but honestly no one has moved today that would make you think the Flyers missed out.

Provorov took such a big step forward last season. Sanheim was on steady year on year improvement. *Poof*

Trade deadline doesn't mean you have to make a trade out of panic, actually it's one of the best times to make deals that can help you in the future.

Like Black Friday...

Sure many shop for the holiday gifts, but it is also a great time to get things you need for a better price. No different.

Well at least a smart GM would use that time in a meaningful way.
