You do when you have no clue what is happening with the health of Patrick and they wanted Giroux on the wing. I don't see the Hayes deal being bad. I think what hurts is the money your paying Voracek and van reimsdyk(even though he has been better this year).

Also the play of Provorov and Hart haven't helped this team.

Exactly. Hayes was signed when it became apparent Patrick wasn’t going to be the 2nd line C last year.

I wouldn't say the "master plan is unraveling". Covid changed a lot of what you can do now with the flat cap. Also a lot of the "long term" deals hurting the Flyers were inherited. I think Fletcher has actually stayed the process. He hasn't moved any top prospects or top end picks in bad deals. Did he maybe put too much hope in his younger players, probably. Did he not make a move to replace Niskanen, yeah but he also didn't go out and make a bad deal either just to fill his spot. I think some changes are needed moving forward but I can't sit here and kill Fletcher.

This is a very well stated opinion about the current state of the team and what has transpired this season. I happen to agree with you! It sucks watching them lose in the manner in which they have so often this season, and I'd be lying if I didn't indicated how infuriating it has been. That being said, I think Fletcher will change some things in the offseason to the get closer to the right "mix" of players.

Mete is interesting but Vatanen isn't that good. We'd be running him out Philly in no time if he were here.

Can someone explain to me what all this gnashing of teeth and rending of garments is all about because the Flyers didn't claim a 5'9" defenseman off of waivers? A guy that would have never got to them anyway because Ottawa picked him up?

If they wanted him they could’ve traded for him anytime before he went on waivers for next to nothing.

Imo, the Hayes move was predicated on them overestimating either talent or readiness or both of their young players.

Else it doesn't make sense. How many rebuilding clubs are rolling/rolled with aging centers in the top 2 lines? Where did Toews play for Hawks? Where is Getzlaf playing for Ducks? How about Vinny Lecavalier before he was unloaded on Philly?

What's aging? Coutrurier and Hayes are 28? Also Hayes was signed to help keep Giroux on the wing and since Patrick was a question mark it allowed them to maybe slot Laughton into the 3C or maybe Frost at them time. Also I do believe they wanted to lessen the load on Patrick before the start of last season.

There must be a bidding war over him and Fletcher is driving up the value

Are you reading facebook again?

Because no one and I mean no one wanted to claim either here that I saw. Plus Flyers are at 50 contracts so they can't.

Just shows Ghost is considered a bucket rabbit turds that teams that blow didn't even want to add for free....but Ottawa said "Hey 5'9 guy best we have seen so far, mine!"

We were talking about keeping Giroux on at center. There was no justification for not doing that.

If you keep making these roster moves a player at a time and a season at a time without any idea of the long term goal, this is what you end up with.

Now we can enjoy having Couturier and Hayes as your #1-2 down the middle. Talk about being gobsmacked with mediocrity. Clubs will quail at facing us.

I'm unsure on Mete. Just didn't think Montreal was giving up on him. I just don't understand the Vatanen inquiry. If you watch the Devils games against us he's barely noticable.

I guess it's ok in the fact he isn't doing dumb stuff, but he won't help enough to push the Flyers to where they need to be.

In Sanheim's rookie year, how many games did he sit out as a scratch?

How can you say that asking Myers, who was basically still a rookie in the league to play on the top pair with Provorov, isn't rushing him?

How do most top young defenseman who aren't elite talents, normally break in in the NHL?

- MJL

How many games did Myers actually play with Provy on the top unit, 5 ? Less?

I cant believe I have to point this out, but after reading your dumbass response Im not surprised.

Gostisbehere 2 years left at after this season at 4.5 per.

Victor Mete a pending RFA at 735k.

If you cant figure that out then I dont know what else to say.

I still don't understand how the Flyers have rushed or put too much on their younger players?

Do all teams let their players develop until they are 27-28?

- Glak18

Well, this year the hope was that they could all step up at the same time and take over from vets such as nisky, pitlick grant Thompson all left at the same time. Nothing gradual. Hey guys, go gid

All the excuse makers for Hart about how terrible the team is in front of him, I'd like them to explain Ullmark's .916 save % for the Sabres.
- PLindbergh31

Young goalies can look great until NHL teams/shooters figure them out.

Hart will make adjustments and be fine next year.

I guess I am confused at what your saying? So the Flyers were wrong to think Couturier was a top line center? You keep saying keep Giroux at center but the "long term"plan was to keep him on the wing. The "long term"goal was to have Couturier, Hayes and Patrick down the middle for the next couple years.

Needless to say, Patricks health came into question last year.

I’m blown away that Ghost isn’t attractive to a contender. He shouldn’t be attractive to keep in Philly because I think we’ve done all we can with him.

apparently most teams feel a deal is close and he will sign to stay in Philly. I’ll wait for my E-vite to the celebratory ice cream party from login.
