And maybe why Chytil should NOT have come out.
- NYRCeph

Every time someone says, oh lets wait and give Chytil time, weve given him all the time possible for 3 years. That right there is everything I keep saying about him.

That’s a tough one to lose after fighting back and looking like the better team after the first

Why, he was fantastic all game
- mdw7413

I missed most of the game. So I wouldn't know. Just responding to what he did there.

What, he got double teamed on the boards, Strome didn't pick up his guy, and its Chytils fault.... (frank) me this board sucks

At least we picked up a point on Phila and Boston
- ELew11

Yeah, after the first we settled in. I just want this team ready to play 60 every game instead of showing up in the second like most games.

Rangers need to sweep the 4 games vs the devils. It’s really the biggest chance they have to make this playoff push real

I disagree with some of this. Chytil did (frank) up skating directly back and running into his dman. Didn't create an outlet for his dman before he got double teamed, which ultimately led to the imbalance on the boards.

100%. Regardless of the start I thought we outplayed the isles. The isles really don’t have the offense to take over a game. They just wait for a team to make a mistake.

I thought it looked like a weak giveaway by Chytil too. There’s so much open ice to move the puck to and it seemed like he forced it. I’ll have to watch it again, shut off the TV 2 seconds after it went in.

Just curious can anyone find a stat of how they faired on defensive draws this game? Felt like every face off in there own end they lost.

Stop it, the kid literally gave up on the play. He didnt even TRY to challenge or fight for the puck. Matter of fact, as soon as he saw adversity he turned his back and just let them have it. He could have easily saw the challenge and just dumped it. Ice it, live another day. No. He took the puck to the board, turned his back to the forecheckers and didnt even make it hard for them. He does it every game.

They need a number two, two way center badly

Before the boards mess he skated directly back into his dman and cause bunching in the corner, allowing the Islander to overload the side. So from faceoff on, he created the mess unfortunately.

The rangers killed themselves with that bad first. You can see this team getting better as the game went on. Expect big things next year

What is Strome doing on those last two plays?!
- gravey914

He's always puck gazing or leaking out too early. Strome's defensive awareness drives me crazy. He was lollygagging on the Isles 2nd goal.

Another reason we need centers that can win a draw. Like I said earlier, Chytil had better hire Messier this off season or I am done with him if he can't win draws next season.

Strome and Trouba should never be on the ice during OT. Both liabilities

Just watched it again. He had a few safe plays to make with the puck. Not sure what he was hoping for there. He did have a solid game though, he’s got a ton of offensive instincts, he’s just not in any way a center. Especially not the 2 way center the Rangers need in his role.

Chytil is weak on the boards, zone entries, etc.
Probably good in juniors but that doesn't translate to the NHL.

Hands down. It is a very bad sign for you future when the coach pulls you for faceoffs in games. I think Chytil is a good player. I am not hating on him. But if reality exists in objectivity here, he has distinct pros and distinct cons, which starts to lend him to an incomplete center.

On a positive note, that was Laf's best game start to finish. He was strong on the puck, had quick hands in short spaces, made good decisions and even though they didn't score.... that play he made on the boards that turned into a great pass and scoring chance to Kravstov IS the future. We're going to enjoy these guys for a long time.
