Maybe.

I'm not so sure we should go "all-in" with this group though.

- Scabeh

I was referring more specifically to MB wanting to kinda save his own ass but yeah I get what you're saying. it just sucks seeing other teams taking a step forward while the habs are staying put.

Thankfully there's no one available for him to make a "job saving" trade.

I hope this doesn't age badly.

True.

But I'm sure we have similar borderline NHL players to offer.

I think our current team, when things are clicking, can do some damage and maybe, if we make the playoffs, we can surprise a few teams.

But I don't see the current Habs edition as the basket we should be putting all our eggs in.

In 2-3 years, we'll have Primeau, Caufield, Harris, Struble, Poehling, Guhle, Norlinder coming up.

KK and Suzuki will be older and better.

Drouin will be off the books.

I think that'll be the Habs time to shine.

Or it will conclude a cycle of failure for the Bergevin/Timmins era.

yeah I think the general consensus among fans now is that they want him fired... not a Bergevin hater but I get that they're due for a change, I'm just not so sure that the next GM will magically make this roster play better, and with more consistency.

I hope Bergevin has a more significant trade in the works, for a guy that is supposed to be "all-in" it would be kind of underwhelming if he stopped at Merrill
- Pat1993

he was all in but it looks like it did not work

He's pretty much in a corner right now

not much on the market to being with and no cap space

I don't expect much today from him

He may do a minor trade and everyone will female dog about it

Maybe the next GM will have a semblance of a plan to build the roster and not just seeing what trades work on his sega.

Agreed.

I don't think Bergevin is doing a horrible job.

But at some point, we need to find elite talent somewhere.

Best way to do that is via the draft.

I'd fire Timmins.

Maybe, but they have more wiggle room with Gallagher on IR.

not for 8 millions, not even close (even if it's not the full salary)

it would be baffling if MB got fired but Timmins still kept his job, after all these years...

For drafting Caufield both will get 5 year extensions.

Gotta love these 3 way trades where 2 teams eat half the salary so you get the player at 1/4 the price.

Well our draft picks in the last few years look like good ones... but we have yet to see someone take that step towards being a star.
