Weird how DD & Biega are on waivers, I think something else is brewing. Agree that The Captain may be working for space w/a 3-way for Hall. Hopefully, we get at least a 2d for it, though. He's a premier player, so the facilitatiin fee should be juuust a bit higher...

Also put me down as disappointed that the return for Merrill is only a fifth. I think he's a lot better than that.

8 AM: I'll make a few calls and kick some tires. But if I trade for a player then he has to be the right fit. We like our team.

10 AM: I've been talking to alot of GM's but not much is happening right now. Getting Alex Chiasson back from injury is the same as making a trade. Like I said before. We like our team.

12 PM: I inquired about Taylor Hall. It just wasn't the right fit. It didn't make sense. I have to put a team on the ice. Do I trade futures for right now? I always say tie goes to the veteran. Vets have built up stock in this league. But the rest of the league is also trying to get better. We like our team.

2 PM: Look I can't just drive up to a hockey store and buy a top 4 defenseman. Trades are hard. I have to earmark $3 million for Jiri Hudler. I don't have any cap space. That's the reality. We like our team.

Merrill, Ryan, Brome', Namestnikov....there were some pretty good signings last year, for sure. I foresee this being a good draft year, very deep, but we'll get bent over in the lottery again.

I'd be very happy to see The Mullett back next fall, a solid D-Man, logs the minutes, few mistakes. Would LOVE to see Ryan back. That kid's just a good guy and brings it every night. A damn good role model for the kids. Speaking of...think we'll see some more of the kids here in the next few weeks as Europe slows down...excited to see Veleno, would love to see Seider. Imagine we'll see just a bit of him if his season ends soon. That kid...Just. Wow.

As far as Bernier being traded, if Freddy Andersen goes to FA, I would not mind if Stevie snags him. I think the Toronto media has ruined that man's confidence, and he could thrive out of that kind of environment.

I'm wondering if the Caps trade that 3rd round pick they got from the Devils to Detroit for Bernier? We might have to take a goalie back as a salary dump and retain 50% so the Caps can fit Bernier under the Cap. Did you see what I did there? 😉
