I just got a text from a very well-placed source who said there is NO deal for Deslauriers and that one is unlikely before the deadline tomorrow, although the source didn't rule it out entirely.

I'm not against the Pens going after a physical player as long as they can actually play. Compared to Deslauriers, Maroon is Gretzky.

I really think the best move the Penguins can make is to make no move. Like I said yesterday, no one here is setting us apart. We have so little assets that trading them for a non-difference maker isnt wise IMO.

Our playoff chances ride purely on what Penguins team shows up. We are capable of beating any team in our division in a 7 game series. We could also lose a 7 game series against any of them. If the team that's been playing for the last month or so shows up, I feel good about our chances.

I can't imagine what would be so hard in a trade discussion for Deslauriers.

I imagine it would have been a Jank/Sceivor and a 7th for Deslauriers and a 5th type of deal. I would be fine with something like that.
