I still can't think of a team that went on to win a cup after trading for a star at Trade deadline.

The "What have the Romans done for us?" bit is perhaps the greatest piece of satire ever.

Remember when the Caps traded for 3C Lars Eller in 2018? No one really thought much of it. But then Backstrom and Kuznetsov missed games to injury and Eller stepped right in and helped fill the void. Caps won the Cup.

I saw Brad Stuart solidify the Red Wings D in 2008 which led to a Cup. I think any Cup winning team already has its team built. They just need to add another depth piece or 2.

The whole point is to better your chances..there are no guarantees but adding a star certainly increases your chances.

Just how the team selling has no guarantee the picks will even turn into an NHLer let alone a cup.
