Nice. Thanks
Can you keep at it and get to 12.5%, 6.25%, etc? - RickJames77
maybe
but then it gets cost prohibitive, if you have to toss each team a draft pick for retaining

Hall had some contol over where he went, might have influenced price and destination. I'm happy with the addition of Foligno, a team captain and will play hard the way Hyman plays hard. Hoping Hall returns to form for the playoffs as a rental, when he has only played for teams that really suck was a long shot dream IMO. Have to think as a top six player on all those garbage teams, he was part of the problem. Oilers ran him out of town. - winsix
‘member when the Leafs had nine captains on the team?
Good times. |

Kerfoot for Haydn Fleury would be an example of a possible move that would make sense for the Leafs. (not sure if Carolina would be interested, but they're bound to lose Fleury/Bean in the expansion draft if they're able to sign Hamilton to a new contract) |

Meh, what can they do?
At least trades occurred, so they can discuss them all day - Fakepartofme
I just find it funny. I feel for them. It's 9 hours of filler.
At least they can break down deals instead of speculating for 4 hours on what MIGHT a guy go for. |

Let me take the other side:
I have to imagine that Hall was more than happy to get the hell out of Buffalo, going to any playoff team to restart his season and get a better contract next year.
My guess is he was on the I-90 seven minutes after the trade, doing 80 mph towards Boston. - Atomic Wedgie
If he was available to all teams - then ya, Boston got a great deal and I would have preferred Hall for a 2nd over Foligno for a first.

I hate to say it, but given the prices paid, I would have preferred Hall over Foligno. - Atomic Wedgie
Not me, I wanted what Foligno brings over what Hall does.
Leafs have tried the "let's stack our team with high skilled guys with very little interest in the dirty, nasty, physical play that comes in the playoffs" and have not been successful doing so.
Time to try a new hat on for size - a hat we have seen other team wear with success.
I am a bit surprised how little Boston had to give up to get Hall, but Buffalo gonna Buffalo things I guess? |

So the leafs can lose him in the expansion draft? Why trade Kerfoot for someone with less experience than Dermott just to have to expose him in the summer? |

I have to imagine Hall was handcuffing the Sabres with his NMC. He got to decide where he was going.
No idea if he was even available to the Leafs. - Leafs43
Based on the timing, I would imagine that he was, thus why he was probably traded closely after the Leafs traded for Foligno. The timing makes sense. |

I think. you're right - the price shows that their was no bidding war. Boston had complete control.
I still remember the return for McCabe when his list included one team ..FLA. We had to add a pick to be able to move his $$ and get the already injured Mike VanRyn back.

A defenceman is a must right now... Even two. Or the rest the moves are insignificant.
If Bogo gets hurt right now pretty sure we're left with a Marincin + Dermott bottom pair. Another injury on top of that and half of our blueline is made up of those two and Sandin.
That should all be terrifying for anyone who remembers what it looked like when Rielly and Muzzin were both hurt last year. - joel878
Not sure if we'll bring in two depth d-men but I'd definitely like to see them push hard for a guy like Oleksiak who can play both sides and in the Top 4 if need be. |

Fleury does not have 'less experience' than Dermott.
Would be a nice add for Leafs for this playoffs, and it's a player that will be exposed for a player that will be exposed during the expansion draft. |

I agree, much better deal for the Bruins. With that being said, we need more of what Foligno brings, but it was a large cost.

I think they could have filled it with a lower tier guy while still adding Hall, but I dont disagree with what you are saying. We do need more of what Foligno brings.

Based on how 'right' you have been so far with respect to what Dubas is or isn't going to do I'm going to go ahead and order my Oleksiak Toronto Maple Leafs jersey now. |

He's UFA and Dallas isn't making the playoffs. There's potential there. |

Fleury has 187 career games, 17 playoff games.
Dermott has 213 career games, 19 playoff games.
Do you even feel the need to check yourself before you spout off at the lips or is that lost in how right you are about everything. |

Would much rather that slight overpayment be in picks than prospects. He did well considering how every team he was dealing with knows they are slammed against the cap... |
