That was before the Rittich trade, which signals that Freddy isn’t coming off LTIR. Leafs will have over 3M left of LTIR relief after putting Hutchinson and Barabanov back on the Taxi Squad. - Steven_Seagull
Flip Flop Flip Flop.
Ok so now Anderson is out until playoffs and we have room to spare.

This.
I mean it is speculation but why would the Leafs who have a guaranteed playoff spot and sizeable lead on home ice advantage grab a goalie that counts against their cap if Freddy was expected back before seasons end.
If they added a Forsberg it would be a different story...but a 3rd and cap space signals Freddy is likely done. At least for the season. |

Kinda bummed that we missed out on Hall.
Do we think Foligno's as good as Hyman? I don't seem to recall his skating being impressive, but I haven't watched him play much since he's been with the BJs. - gravyface
Did Folingo play in the non playoff playoff series Leafs/BJs?
I really dont remember him in that series

Hall is a better player than Foligno. I think that's not really a surprise.
But we already have a bunch of Taylor Hall-like players. Guys who can skate and pass and shoot who aren't physical and don't really like the dirty areas of the ice. All year a common thing we've collectively said is, "We need another Hyman." Foligno is not as good as Hyman, but he fits the bill on what we mean when we say that. We needed more someones who will get in and get physical and muck and make life unpleasant for the opposition's defense, and on the other side of the red line, they can make life more unpleasant in our D-Zone. - Monkeypunk

I think we get a D man with the extra cash savings. Bobby Orr would be a good fit. |

Agreed - I could see Spezza sliding into the 3rd line centre spot if they deal him and being fine there. |

What else could they possibly do? They have no picks next year left (almost). The only thing would be a spare Dman so Marincin is never under any circumstances called into action in the playoffs.

There is no point of trading Kerfoot unless there is a bonfide replacement, and Spezza isnt that right now.

Leafs just added Nash.
Matthews, Tavares, Engvall, Spezza, Thornton, Nylander, Nash, Brooks -- All C's (or can play at C).
If you have to trade Kerfoot to bring in a legit improvement on D, it's an easy decision, in particular since Kerfoot needs to be traded this off-season anyways to resign more important pieces (goalie, Hyman, |

What would the Leafs possibly trade him for? We have little left to trade unless we start trading Robertsen or Sandin which would be dumb, and there is no point in trading him for something mediocre in return.
I wouldnt mind Miles Wood, or a solid dman, I just dont see it happening.

There is no point in trading for another UFA at this point, and what do the Leafs really have left to trade? Cant trade away all our prospects, well have nothing left for the future.

I said hed get a 1st if salary was retained.
Plus that's a decent prospect
Edit: they retained salary.
I was wrong.
Good call - Fakepartofme
That decent prospect is a 24 year old former 5th round pick, 4th line LW that would have a hard time holding down a job on the Marlies. Much better available on waivers than this bum. Bufaloons got fleeced.

Disagree. You can't just wait to trade guys until you have a 'bonafide replacement' you may have to take a step back in one position to bolster an area of weakness. Up the middle the Leafs are fine even without Kerfoot he is not essential to their success in my opinion.
If trading him improves the D by a signifigant amount and perhaps gets a player with term, draft picks then there definitely is a reason to trade him. Spezza would be fine as the 3rd line Centre, we are talking Kerfoot here - he's a steady eddie player. Has a nice game once in a while but nothing spectacular.
Engvall is perhaps more likely to be moved but I'm fine with either of them going if the deal is right.

They would do it because both their goalies have been hurt for most of the year, and you cant go into the playoffs knowing if that continues in the playoffs, you have to play Hutchinson.
Campbell has barely been able to play in games without a couple days rest.
