Calgary is also a horrible team. The Leafs are not.

I think that's where I'm not so sure. Obviously from all of our arguing about goaltender performance in here, no one really knows - situational play, rush control, odd-man rushes against, net front defense, blah, blah, blah - all have a serious impact on how a goalie performs that is significantly impactful on their HDSV, GSAA, and so on.

Rittich has had a .907 and .911 in more than half a season of play, so certainly he's had more consistent workload under his belt. But he's been pretty flaky of late.

Maybe I could sum up my feeling this way: If we reach a point in the playoffs where we are using Hutchinson OR Rittich, we're up the creek.

Rittich has only played well against Toronto.

He has a .904 save percentage this year.

He has a .941 save percentage against Toronto.

He has an .882 save percentage against everyone else.

He no longer gets to play against Toronto, so . . . welcome to Big Save Dave's Big Save Percentage of .882.

I'm also not a fan, he can play well but is pretty streaky. He is also pretty emotional and can get in his own head, not a great fit for a Leafs team that's not the most consistent defensively.

But, I do trust in Dubas, most of his moves have been solid.

So if Andersen comes back in regular season, Big Save Dave has to go on waivers?

Do I have that correct?

They had more than enough cap room to fit him in without retention and still have room to add. Calgary retained 50%.

There is still more room to fill. Hes not done yet

Good move, Leafs now have no 3rd or 4th round picks for next two drafts, but solid additions. I woud think the next move is for a d-man

I was depressed that they gave up that 1st rounder, potentially top 29 pick, will probably be the next Fredrick Gauthier.

Yeah,

So I would suspect Andersen is not coming back before the end of the year. You seriously have to wonder if the whole mysterious injury is bogus.

I think the issue is that they used Andersen's LTIR.

I'm not entirely sure where they are. I *think * In order to add Nash, they had to LTIR Andersen to have room to acquire Nash. Once they had Nash, they had his $2.75m in LTIR space. Rittich is at 1.375 and Foligno is at 1.375, which uses up the $2.75m you get from Nash. I think Andersen can come off of LTIR without affecting the payroll because they are now covered by Nash's LTIR.

Weren't they just under the cap when the LTIR Nash, meaning they did not get the whole LTIR allowance for him?

No idea if I uderstand any of this.

I don't know who they had to move up from the taxi squad to the roster to bring them to the cap ceiling to maximize the amount, but once they do that, they can maximize the LTIR allowance. They may still even have room to move a body down to bring a body in if they still make a minor move, but I suspect they are done now.
