M'eh I don't feel that strongly about a 1st round pick when we know it's going to be that late a pick anyhow. I mean technically I guess you can say anyone CAN be resigned, it's just about how much do you want to pay and what can you fit in.

Now I'm also not sure I'd do either Hall or Foligno for a 1st but in Dubie we(I) trust!

Agreed, but you have to be really good at finding those later round diamonds in the rough.

I know it all too well. Holland's horrible drafting during his last decade in Detroit killed the Red Wings. Finding Datsyuk and Zetterberg in later rounds was pure luck. There's no way they expected either one of them to be franchise players.

Boston Bruin fans say "shhhhhhh don't tell everyone else". Watching the Leafs rip apart teams in regular season and then get pushed around in the playoffs was so depressing.

Hell even last year the Blue Jackets vs Leafs to some degree was the biggest issue - you can only play (and win) at pond hockey if the other team agrees to (or just gets complacent and allows it) play run and gun and nobody agrees to that come playoff time.

Yup. Torts had CBJ clogging everything up and it effectively turned the series into a... well... grind! Leafs simply didn't have an answer.

This team is a better edition from last season but I still feel like there's an edge that's missing.

Hall is a special player though and he could really help to tilt the ice. He doesn't have to be "the man" on this team and he's never had guys like AM34 and Mitch to play with. Sooo... maybe?

Holmstrom drafted in the 10th round is still one of my all-time fave Cinderella picks. I'm going to go ahead and guess this was one of the guys Holland scouted in his pre-GM days.

Flyers just choked to Buffalo - badly.

Commentators were saying it may shift Flyers to sell mode.

Sounds like Foligno has decided he is ready to move on. He has a NMC though and can dictate where he is willing to play. The Leafs, Wild, Oilers, Bruins, Canadiens among possible teams.

I still laugh at the story Holmstrom told about Scotty Bowman. During training camp Holmstrom switched his jersey number from 15 to 96. Bowman asked him why. Holmstrom says "It's my first year in the NHL." Bowman says "You better start playing better or it'll be your last." 🤣
