Flyers just choked to Buffalo - badly.

Commentators were saying it may shift Flyers to sell mode.

Galchenuyk doesn't bring what Foligno would - not even close.

And if you were saying the Galchenunyk and Hall situation are the same, I guess both where having crappy seasons but that's about where the similarity ends.

The price to resign Glachenunyk if he has a great playoff is ALOT less than one if they got Hall and he goes on a rip.

One guy will be overjoyed to get to stay here and likely take a very reasonable deal to do so as the Leafs have given him a real chance to save his career. The other guy will be a UFA and looking to cash in big time and will be gone unless the Leafs moved a big salary to resign him.

So after a poopty season, Hall gets to cash in if he plays really well in the playoffs? I would feel so soiled. I mean would literally poop myself if it worked.

I absolutely trust Dubas to make the right choice and think turning Foligno loose on the third line brings a lot too. I’m just not prepared to dismiss the Hall option.

Would love a trade right now but I think at this point Dubas just waits out these sellers.

Or that he plays on a well coached team with some offensive structure and, oh great line mates. I’m happy either way but I don’t think that Hall forgot how to hockey.

I never said he did but I still want Foligno and the bulk of why is what he brings to the table / the way he plays vs Hall.

To me Hall is pure talent - The Leafs have lots of that already.

I feel like they need the guy who will play the nasty, dirty, drop the mitts and make life miserable for the opposition every shift and in turn life better for his teammates. They also need guys like Wayne Train and Jumbo to do some of this as well - Simmonds did before he got hurt, I just hope he gets back to being able to play that way again soon.

I would say that pertains to foligno as well
- burn

To an extent, but any team trading for Foligno will at least have a chance to re-sign him.
Hall is going to get 7 0r 8 mill so he wouldn't be back here or on a lot of other contenders also.

You know who made life miserable for the opposition every shift last night? The skinny kid and Mexican dude.

And the other the line that was was the Willie JT line until Willie got the Covid (protocol)

You seriously don't think Hall gets a payday on his next deal? I have zero doubt he's going to get paid, (overpaid probably) by some schmuck GM - even if he does jack shyte in the playoffs where ever he ends up.

He's too good a player and is a year removed from showing it - most GM's will just shrug off this season as "Buffalo-itis with a side of shortened Corona madness" and he will get some big offers. I don't think the Leafs can afford to sign either Hall or Foligno in the off season actually without moving out a big contact, but it would be a bigger one needed to sign Hall.

Whatever happens, happens I"ll cheer for either of them if they end up a Leaf but the fact we are all debating it likely means we get neither as a Leaf and end up with someone we never saw even as a possibility. Sneaky Dubas!

Foligno Talks Heat Up
Sounds like Foligno has decided he is ready to move on. He has a NMC though and can dictate where he is willing to play. The Leafs, Wild, Oilers, Bruins, Canadiens among possible teams.

A regular season game vs Ottawa and a playoff game are nowhere near the same thing though.

To me the question was " Do you want to add more skill (Hall) or Grit/Nastiness etc. (Foligno).

I feel like they need more of the 2nd.

Gotta think the Flyers know it's over. Not sure if there's anything on that roster worth poaching though (that would be available).

I didn't see an option C "all of the above" - of course I'd take both (depending on the price) but I was just playing the "pick one of these 2" game.

I would like an insurance goalie also even if Andersen is coming back - I don't want to see Hutch at all even eating popcorn in the press box.

I think the upside favours Hall, certainly. Who know what is going on in Buffalo. Could a shot at a cup run motivate him to find his game?

as he is this year so far, Foligno would be the much better choice and more of what the Leafs need.

- Aetherial

Hall is elite but I think Lou Foligno would be a better fit.

But I’ll cheer for whatever mofo puts on da Leaf!!!

It is a joke.

Guy lists a player that has been talked about for months and then lists all the playoff bound teams who might want to make a significant add.

... and then lists himself as the source.

They should get Hall and play him with Marner and Matthews, so we can call them Kids and the Hall.

I feel like there is this contingent of fan who refuses to believe that playoff hockey is a grind, that teams get away with a lot more shenanigans, and the competition and compete level for teams is a much higher level.

Skill is great but hard-nosed types who can make paying your team a miserable affair are gold. Simmonds and Hyman are great, but I'd be happy to have Nick added. Hell, Foligno can play C too!

Having said that, Taylor Hall is legit elite and it would be exciting as (frank) to see him olaying with AM34/Mitch or on the Snake line.

Which is to say: I'm torn!

Woe is being a Leaf Fan, but if they're going to give up a 1st better be for someone signed or can be re-signed.

Believe the #Leafs, #Avs and #caps are among the teams potentially willing to part with a 1st round pick in a Foligno deal - and that list may not be conclusive.

Seems to be heating up on the Nick Foligno front for #CBJ. Belief is multiple teams have put a 1st-round pick on the table for Jarmo Kekalainen to consider.

M'eh I don't feel that strongly about a 1st round pick when we know it's going to be that late a pick anyhow. I mean technically I guess you can say anyone CAN be resigned, it's just about how much do you want to pay and what can you fit in.

Now I'm also not sure I'd do either Hall or Foligno for a 1st but in Dubie we(I) trust!

Boston Bruin fans say "shhhhhhh don't tell everyone else". Watching the Leafs rip apart teams in regular season and then get pushed around in the playoffs was so depressing.

Hell even last year the Blue Jackets vs Leafs to some degree was the biggest issue - you can only play (and win) at pond hockey if the other team agrees to (or just gets complacent and allows it) play run and gun and nobody agrees to that come playoff time.
