I dont really care if they get Hall or not. Ill even be excited if they do.

But i dont like the idea of paying a first rounder+ for a rental. Never have. Rarely seems to work out.

You’re looking for a trade that guarantees a cup win?

You’ve got a shot so do your best to improve your odds of winning the cup. I don’t think any GMs are handing out guarantees. Whoever Dubas thinks that is, negotiate the best price, if it’s ridiculous, walk away and get the next guy on the list but I don’t want to read (or skip) MIB summer blog “Smart Dubas Played It Safe at Deadline”

I prefer depth acquisitions at the deadline. I think they work out more often, and yes they are lower risk.

If the price is right, sure, go bigger. I’ll be excited to see this team inthe playoffs either way.

Overpay how? Prices seem low and we have a shot now. If you don’t like Hall, fine make that argument but I think it’s crazy to worry too much about the price and wait for our next chance

I can't see Hall getting a first unless half his salary is retained and the Leafs don't need half his salary retained unless they are getting someone else also.

Youre confusing my preference to not spend significant assets on rentals with a hatred for the same.

I would be very excited to watch Hall for a playoff run.

Merrill would have been a nice pickup to bump Dermott to 7th D. Big guy and a historically plus player on some wretched teams for 925k. Instead he goes to the habs.🤮

If you can get Hall, at a reasonable rate, see what he wants for a contract going forward? Willy can be traded for a better asset in the summer. So basically, whatever you trade for Hall and the asset you get for Willy could cancel out or be in the Leafs favour, cap-wise, for next year. Have both Hall and Willy on the team for a playoff run.

The talk is foligno is going to return a 1st so if that’s the case then how could ball not also?

What if they want to do something like Tampa did yesterday where they only end up with 1/4 of his salary cap hit so they can then add depth d and a goalie?

The Leafs need an upgrade on the 3rd defensive pairing. If the Leafs lose any of their top 6 to injury, there is no decent fill in. Manson would be nice....but at what price?

Foligno for me all day long - I think he brings more of what the Leafs need for a playoff run right now.

Hall has also been shyte this year - so your getting him in hopes he suddenly finds his game.

I would think because of his salary and that he probably can't be re-signed.

Their defence has been fine. If you’re want insurance, a bunch of guys went on waivers today.

Galchenuyk doesn't bring what Foligno would - not even close.

And if you were saying the Galchenunyk and Hall situation are the same, I guess both where having crappy seasons but that's about where the similarity ends.

The price to resign Glachenunyk if he has a great playoff is ALOT less than one if they got Hall and he goes on a rip.

One guy will be overjoyed to get to stay here and likely take a very reasonable deal to do so as the Leafs have given him a real chance to save his career. The other guy will be a UFA and looking to cash in big time and will be gone unless the Leafs moved a big salary to resign him.

Or that he plays on a well coached team with some offensive structure and, oh great line mates. I’m happy either way but I don’t think that Hall forgot how to hockey.

I think the upside favours Hall, certainly. Who know what is going on in Buffalo. Could a shot at a cup run motivate him to find his game?

as he is this year so far, Foligno would be the much better choice and more of what the Leafs need.
