A miracle needs to occur where Bergevin finds a way to acquire a 1C and Ducharme envisions a system which alleviates the critical gap-control predicament. The recently added "depth" players have only compound the trouble. Otherwise, it is highly unlikely to find enough "Pulse" to progress beyond the first or second round.

Bergevin's experiment of signing and trading for unwanted players has been interesting. It showed some deceiving promise early on, but the time has arrived to add some elite talent. If a 1C cannot be acquired I speculate a new GM will be in-place this summer to reconstruct the squad.

From some people. Supposly Merrill is one of the best D on Wings this season. Could be a great add on 3rd pairing.

First impression: that is one hell of a trade for Montreal. Merrill has been one of Detroit's best defensemen this season. He makes less than $1 million. He'll help the Canadiens in the playoffs. To get him for a fifth-rounder is a great bit of work by the Canadiens
