We have 50 contracts. Shame.
- Peter Richards

Yes, that is true. I keep forgetting that limits Flyers options.

Well something needs to happen.
Lindblom scratched and Raffl RW on top-line is also rather unusual

- goenzoy

Lindblom may be worn out, and Raffl has played on the top line in the past, so It doesn't seem that unusual to me.

Hey, can you do us a favor and buy a Crosby jersey? How about a Panarin or a Lafreniere jersey, too. Might as well get a Jack Hughes while you're at it. We could probably take up a collection here at Flyers Buzz to support this proven strategy. Just a thought.

My daughter wants a Carter Hart Jersey....I refused.

Why do I have the feeling that Sanheim won't be a flyer come draft day? Just hearing some things and his name is always involved.

I like Sanheim. Don’t want to see him go. He is pretty young for a D man even in this younger league. Think he has lots of growth ahead of him. If he was dealt it better be for a good price. I don’t see it happening. Not until someone shows they can take his minutes.

If they got someone like Ellis and York shows great promise plus the right price. But other than that. Forget about it. He is only going to get better.

I keep thinking the Flyers plan on backing the truck up to big Dougie...

I get intrigued then I start to cringe followed with a shrug. Then I throw my hands up and shake my head.

In today’s Cap NHL teams have to hit big in the draft and then fleece a team or two that are hung over a barrel and bring in a piece or two on the UFA market to compete. Not easy to do. Can’t buy yourself to compete for a cup anymore. Hexy had the early steps right. Draft and developed. Fletcher did good last year. Tough luck losing Nisky to retirement.

I’d keep a cool hand right now with the ED and the flat cap unless the right fit for the right price popped up. Then start to get after it this next year.

If it were my call, I wouldn't trade Frost until I have a better handle on what the Flyers actually have in him.
- bmeltzer

We can say that about every prospect, and once the Flyers know, so do all the rest of the teams. I will trade potential for actual any day of the week! If a prospect is expendable to the Flyers, how is that a viable trade asset at that point?

I agree Bill. I think it would have been really interesting to see Frost v. Patrick this year, unfortunately Frost got injured. The organization was probably hoping to see which player would take the 3C or ideally 2C spot. It is interesting that the Patrick rumors have surfaced. I think maybe Frost won the battle even without playing because he couldn’t possibly be worse than Patrick played this season. Trading or not protecting Patrick is definitely a risk though because Frost may not be physical enough to endure the NHL...that wasn’t exactly a big hit he took to end his season.

I have a Patrick jersey, so he is probably gone soon.

- darkerens

Guys, this really doesn't make sense. Nolan Patrick has very little to any trade value, because every team sees what we see on a nightly basis, and no one wants that! You have to take a chance on a player that other teams see potential in, otherwise you don't have a tradable asset! True we don't know what Frost will be eventually, but that is what makes him tradable, his potential. Otherwise we never get anywhere here, we must give up something other teams perceive is valuable if we want to get something back that the Flyers think is valuable.

I’ll pass on Ellis. Not because of his age but how are the flyers going to fit him cap wise?
- bird_dog_pa

Piece of cake. The Flyers can fit him in right now under the deadline cap without getting rid of anyone. However the reason the waived Ghost was entirely for this purpose, so they can move him to the taxi squad and thus free up $4.5M in cap space if needed!

I take either Ekholm or Ellis, but i’d rather have Ekholm. His contract is affordable and short, could resign for reasonable amount and term due to age. He is bigger and a lot less injury prone than Ellis. Both have good plus/minus (except Ellis this year) and points. Ellis is better offensively but we need a durable player and Ekholm is certainly that. That being said, i doubt Nashville trades either one without a huge overpay. They are back in a playoff spot and 8-2 over their last 10.
- darkerens

I healthy and motivated Ellis for $6M/season?? That is a steal!

No trade yet?
I really fear our Fletcher just doesn't get it.
Staying put is not the option. Just sell Mortimer, sell!!!! Do not even think that we can get anywhere this year.

Sell and scoop the assets. This team has gaps, but what is good they are fixable in quite short time. If we manage to sell 2-3 players b y tomorrow, we can set ourselves really well for draft dealing.
There are clear obvious solutions to get us to contender position/roster by Oct this year.

Now Fletcher, do your job, or you might not be here in June time buddy :-D

- Keith25

The only reason to move Allison and Laczynsk1 to the taxi squad is to prepare for a trade of a roster player or two, otherwise this move makes no sense.

Sanheim has not looked great this year, but I think playing with Myers has hurt him. He has looked better since Myers has been out of the lineup. The one thing I want him to work op is challenging shooters versus turning to the side and dropping to one knee. With his reach he can break up a lot more than he thinks he can.

Ive actually liked Hagg's game quite a bit. We all know what he is. But I like the physical play he brings and he always seems to be in the middle of every fracas when he is on the ice.

Myers back in for Morin today. I don't like this move, but I wonder if Myers is being showcased for a trade? Raffl out of the lineup today, wonder if he is getting traded also?

win this game and management thinks this team is good enough for the playoffs
lose this game and our players have even less value cause they can't beat the sabres

Morin plays 10 minutes a night so does he really need a rest? Not buying that reason. No issue with Myers back in though

That is the kind of defensive sequence that drives me cray, Ghost had more time but instead just gives up the puck, and then Myers ices it. Two bad plays back to back!
