If they have to use a 4/4 protection for the expansion draft, then yes they will lose a solid player...otherwise they will be in pretty good shape.
- Glak18

IMO either way it is much adieu about nothing.

Enjoy Larry Brooks:

Is Carter Hart more Tom Barrasso, who was sent to the AHL for a spell by the Sabres in his second year after winning the Calder, the Vezina and being named to the first All-Star team as a rookie, or is the Flyers’ young netminder more in the Jim Carey category?

Was going to pose Blaine Lacher as an alternative, but that would probably have represented a low blow.

I’ll pass on Ellis. Not because of his age but how are the flyers going to fit him cap wise?
- bird_dog_pa

Fit him in this year? A little bit more involved, but far from impossible.

Fit him in next year and on? Not even an issue. Especially if they can get lucky and lose salary in the expansion draft with either JvR or Voracek. Also hope they can find a sucker to take on Ghost for 2 more years without retaining too much.

Bill, would you trade Nolan Patrick or would you consider him like Morgan Frost? I remember Claude talking about how it took a full season to recover from injury and wonder if Flyers need next season to really know what they have with him. Personally, I vote for giving the kid one more year to show his stuff.

I agree Bill. I think it would have been really interesting to see Frost v. Patrick this year, unfortunately Frost got injured. The organization was probably hoping to see which player would take the 3C or ideally 2C spot. It is interesting that the Patrick rumors have surfaced. I think maybe Frost won the battle even without playing because he couldn’t possibly be worse than Patrick played this season. Trading or not protecting Patrick is definitely a risk though because Frost may not be physical enough to endure the NHL...that wasn’t exactly a big hit he took to end his season.

I have a Patrick jersey, so he is probably gone soon.

Frost needs to spend serious time in the weight room. Last year Farabee did just that and it doesnt appear Frost did much strength training, and look at the difference we have. I am not saying 15lbs of muscle is totally responsible for Joel's improvement as his game was more developed than Frost, but it surely didnt hurt.

Most fans would probably be angry about this, but unless Fletcher gets a can't pass up deal then he is best to wait for the offseason. The problem is he can't go through the offseason and not get anything to improve the team. "No good deals came about" or getting a patch job is not an option.

They really need to get past the expansion draft, but also have a firm plan in place on what they need/want and have to get rid of.

The two obvious holes they need to address is 1) Strengthen the blueline 2) 1B goaltender or a decent backup. Forwards are a bit more complicated because what they have is not right or at least not good enough, but what needs to be done has many paths.

We need too much for any real optimism out of me.

What was real, last year or this year? Idk.

I'd still move the earth to get an A-list talent. At this point I don't care who it is.

I'd sure like Mitch Marner right about now. Flyers should have offer sheeted him when they had the chance.

Unfortunately I am on the other side of the camp. Having a star player would be nice, but individual stats doesn't always mean the team is better or win more. I just want to watch a team that competes every night, even if they lose I can at least tell myself "that was a good game". Last year was probably the closest I have seen in a decade, but even last year they still showed signs of slipping back in that mentality of just show up and hope for a win. Every team goes through slumps and inconsistent play throughout the year, but all teams do not go through what the Flyers have been going through.

Ellis intrigues me, but I think you go after Jones younger and you can get more years out of him. You’ll have your top pairing locked up for the next 7/8 years.

Provy/Jones
Sanheim/York
Myers/hagg
Morin

This team seems slow because of the breakouts. Forwards don’t trust the d to clear the puck out efficiently. Once that is cleared up they can gain speed going through the neutral zone

I would do A LOT to get Jones.

What would you offer?

Sanhiem or Myers. A prospect or another young roster player. A first round pick and depending on the prospect another pick (either a 2,3,4 th. ).

Do you think other teams would offer more or better players ? What prospect or young roster player?

Hope both are still with us next year. Haven’t given up on Patrick yet. Imo it’s like his rookie season all over again with the time he missed. Then to play every other night. Imo it’s like running 5 Karen then competing in a marathon.

At the nhl just bc of size and d play I think Patrick has an inside track. But we did see him play some rw. I think frost may slot more as a wing in the nhl. But we will see in time.

Not saying Patrick will ever be that 1 c. But he could still turn out to be a 2 c.

Sanheim/Myers, Konecny/Frost + our unprotected first this year. Would get the conversation started.

HCQ is all that they need! Much safer than the experimental crap they're injecting people with
- Bob Habib

Yes, only 65 million prescriptions have been given out over 60 years. We have no idea how it will effect people. But an experimental vaccine developed in 1 10th the time any other has been developed is completely safe.

The old jersey curse...I have an Utley, a Halladay, a Richards, a McNabb (which I guess is cool again ). And of course I shelled big $ for my authentic Carson Wentz...I think I’m done....
- landros 2

Hey, can you do us a favor and buy a Crosby jersey? How about a Panarin or a Lafreniere jersey, too. Might as well get a Jack Hughes while you're at it. We could probably take up a collection here at Flyers Buzz to support this proven strategy. Just a thought.

Is a possibility.

Just to start the conversation

Sanhiem-Brink-1st-2nd-4th.

Just a thought. I know they may want a center. Would be great if they would want Hayes and not sure how his contract changes after the ED. It the centers we don’t have to send if they want.

Covid vaccine was probably 90% already developed as they just needed to tweak It. Is what it is

Just get the shot people.

But just so I get this straight:

Co-morbidity issues cause Covid deaths to be inflated.....

BUT co-morbidity DOES'NT inflate vaccine related deaths?

I hope all non vaxxers get marginalized as they should be. This is absurd.
