It’s been over for a couple weeks. They’ve had multiple chances to make a last ditch effort at a playoff run and every time, they come up empty. The trajectory of this season has been epically bad and mind boggling. I thought they might take a step backwards this year losing Niskanen if some of the younger players didn’t improve and the vets weren’t playing at a high level consistently but I didn’t see it going this poorly.

I disagree. It was a longshot sure but possible. Ideally we would have wanted 4/6 points VS Boston with both Bs losses in Regulations. That didnt happen. However if they won tonight they are 2 points back and Boston is beat up on Defense. That puts some pressure on Boston to win. They could very much go on a losing streak but that doesnt matter if we piss away points to buffalo especially when we are winning with 4 mins left in the game.

You can't call a timeout if you ice the puck. That rule was put in years ago to keep teams from resting after they ice the puck.

It was over based on their play, not mathematically. Not sure how you could watch this team the last 6 weeks and have any confidence they’d make it in. I wish they would have turned it around, but the wheels came off and they’ve been unable to put them back on.

No, this roster needs to be changed, however a coach has to give his team the best chance to win, and AV is not doing it!

Not going to happen.

Most of us feel "done" with this team, and for good reason. They haven't been truly relevant for more than a decade. If you skip the surprise cup run 11years ago which was a combination of good luck and a last gasp for some Flyers that were about to be cut loose this period of hockey desperation has been much longer. Yeah...they had a good year in 2020 but that was one in the entire decade. When the Islanders were struggling, their world fell apart with their best player leaving. Turns out losing Tavares was the best thing that could have happened. They gone straight up since then. I think G and Voracek were awesome at times. But the Flyers need to make some big changes. These guys would definitely help a team in the playoffs. I'm hoping Fletcher has some cajones and does what must be done. Even if it means holding back some salary, and yes I know about the ntc... If the right team is interested perhaps that would be waived.

It’s not going to be easy but anyone with half a brain knows this team needs some substantial changes to the core....but when Chuck was hired I’m pretty sure no one described this job as being a piece of cake. He knows what he has in his core, he made reference to not wanting to judge the younger guys based solely on their poor performances this year. Going to be interesting to see what this team looks like at the start of next season. Maybe tomorrow might provide some sorta move more geared for what’s ahead for the expansion draft or if there are some guys they know aren’t part of the future.
