That was a steal. Montour has been one of the worst d-man in the league for the last 3 seasons.

Last time I saw him, he was in Anaheim, thought he had some skill.

Who cares what he did 3 seasons ago? He has 3 this season. 3.
- Elbows15

Yeah, Kampf is only 3 behind him, maybe we can get a third for Kampf.

I understand...that's why I used the word potential. He is going to have to have a huge post season for a big contract. If anything there should've been a conditional pick in the trade. 1st round pick if the Bruins make to this round and if he has so many points etc

He has been terrible in Buffalo. I mean it is entirely possible the constant changing of coaches and systems has stunted his development but based on his metrics, he has been statistically one of the worse D-men in the league for 3 years running.

Maybe a change brings out his talent.

He did have 39 goals 3 seasons ago...the year after he was hurt and then last years was covid shortened.
- NamedSources

He averages a goal every three games for his career, that’s pretty good. We have to clarify overrated, is he one of the top twenty players in the NHL? No he’s not. Is he an “All Star” type of player? When healthy he has proven to be. I know it was the other old fogies that called him overrated, just posting my opinion here.

Potential isn't the word you want though. He is what he is. He isn't going to bounce back. With all the injuries he has had, regression is in his windshield.

I don't think it's that easy to make this assessment. Last year was an odd year for a lot of players and the year before he was injured. I don't know what happened this year other than maybe he got Buffaloed...we will see how it shakes out.

Many think he is one of the top 50 players in the league. He isn't. That is why he is over-rated to me.

He is empty calories to me.

He is injured every year. His style of game doesn't age well. The team that signs him this off-season is going to regret that contract, if it has any term, by the end of the season. Its my opinion and I stand by it.

If he is so bad Boston would've passed...his past numbers suggest he has the pedigree to be a force again. Like I said...we will see how he performs on bigger stage.

I saw you commenting in the sabers thread, I wanted to see how mad they would be too. LOL did you see they think next year they're going to get Kane for Reinhart, Oloffson, and a second round pick because he's old? LOL

Saw that. Almost chimed in then. Kane would still be the best player on that team even if Eichel was healthy. lol

Homie thinks every trade is easy. I read their thread a bit. He over values all the players and has a fondness for bad ones.

I'm a regular reader over there too cuz I kind of always have liked the sabers. But a few guys over there have unrealistic evaluations of players. The Hawks will be good again before the Sabers ever turn it around

Their situations reminds me so much of the Dark Age Hawk years. Terrible ownership. Different reasons but the results will be the same.
