Just need to ask once again:

When did it become legal to throw your broken stick at the puck carrier?

Since Kapanen was traded from Leafs

It’s an obvious penalty before he even throws the stick.

To replace who, Holl who made a couple of sloppy moves last night? No thanks. Leafs still have by far the best Goals Against in the Division and Muzzin/Holl are among the best shut down pair in the league. Get some insurance after doing other business if there’s money left but the Leafs’ defence sucks is old news.

Coincidentally, Dubas looking for a forward as top priority
- Canada Cup

How do we know that a forward is his "top priority"?

Right! Got to be crazy to think the tandem who has shutdown mcdavid and drisaitl regularly this year would be considered to be good and ecective.

Hoffman and Blias...wouldn’t mind that package

Toronto’s single players to players in relationships works out for Hoffman

How do we know he's smart? And why is a forward a smarter move than a D-man or backup goalie (assuming Freddie is dead)?

No goals from McJesus 5 on 5 against. One point when against Muzzin, two against Holl. Second best PK numbers in the League

Leafs have Lil and Sandin. They will get a depth D but no too 4 is needed.

The forward group isn’t good enough to get past TB or the Avs.

Habs and Flames play each other five times in the next two weeks.

A top 6 forward bumps a player down. I think Hyman on the 3rd is the ultimate goal. Makes all 4 lines a scoring threat while creating a very formidable shut down line (that can score). Forward depth would be considerable. Leafs could look to Sandin and Lilly for D depth cuz they’re pretty much free. Just a guess - if they can’t pull off the trades people think they need.

We’ve been over this before, he’s smart when he agrees with me. I think there’s way more opportunity for a forward to have more impact. Anybody brought in on D will slot in at best on the third pairing and play a fairly limited role. Sure, there are guys better than Dermott but Dermott hasn’t really even bad. There’s not a problem there that needs to be fixed.

Obviously there aren’t any real problems up front that need to be fixed either. But, if they think for example, that Hall still has elite stuff, he can be a real upgrade over Gally on the second line. If not, maybe they think Foligno is a big upgrade for the third line. Or maybe they like someone else. I just think there are more chances for big improvements up front.

Finally, I don’t think we can assume anything one way or another about Fred. We’ll get a clue if they use his LTIR $ which means he can’t come back until the playoffs or until there are $5M of guys who show up on LTIR
