Like I said, Adams had better offers but Hall wouldn't waive

So you make the most of it

If you don't trade him you look like an even bigger laughing stock around the league.

You want to bash Adams go for it, but to act like the Sabres had any leverage here is funny.

This isn't they didn't pay a roster bonus because they were being cheap.

It's the one tool the players have in their arsenal

Hall was going to be a Bruin because that's what he wanted and the Bruins still paid a 2nd round pick for a guy who has 2 freaking goals this year

- Stripes77

The Bruins dont know that.......Unless they were told.

I am just waiting for more people comparing maruk to lafleur, trottier, bossy, clarke, espo, perreault etc

I mean danny gare had 10 percent more points then maruk that year

- homiedclown

So you're comparing Eichel to those players above then?

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Stop. You were proven wrong. Take the L.

That is literally the only position that can be said about that. And even then its not like those teams were this bad... .
- DirtyDan

again, show me one superstar nhl center who did not sniff the playoffs in his first 6 seasons

it's not like baseball where a handful of teams get in, over half the league gets in

and we have not sniffed the playoffs

Again. What are you trading EIchel For?

Hes clearly not worth alot because he is making 10 mil and cant carry a team to the playoffs.

1st 3rd okay prospect and a cap dump?

But the Bruins also know he has a NTC

They also went after him in the off season

The Bruins weren't paying a 1st for him

I would have liked a condition on the pick

I expected more then 1 great season (last year) from the face of the franchise and at least competing for a playoff spot after 6 years

which should be a REALISTIC expectation

- homiedclown

Well you're blaming the wrong guy, guy. He's been great very year hes been here except this year and hes been injured the whole time ..... Maybe look what our gms have done to this team. Or our coaches (we haven't had a real one)

come on man we were having a spirited debate where you were making a great case against this trade before

now youre grasping for air

- robz228

So if the Sabres absolutely had to trade him, and Boston is the only place he'd go, and everyone knew it, why did Boston have to give up anything?

If were gonna say that Hall and Boston had 100% of the leverage, then they're idiots for giving up a 2nd rounder.

Truth is he didn't have to go to Boston and Boston didn't know he'd only go to Boston.

don't count me in on that...had (still have?) a maruk rookie card (need to check if it's a Barons/Seals combo
- Michael Pachla

It’s worth $2 in mint condition. And it’s a Seals.

The lowest Eichel rookie card is still worth more.

This is how it most likely went down

Adams had offers he would accept from a few teams

Took those teams to Hall and said where would you waive to go?

It has been reported for at least a week Hall wasn't getting you much

Some reports said he was only getting a 3rd for him

The dude had 2 goals

Adams to boston : We have better offers on the Table

Boston : C'Mon

Adams: No really, we do here they are.

Boston: C'mon

Adams: okay you win. plus give me a worse 4th liner at double the salary.

We are in more trouble than I thought.

No, get Hall to waive to go somewhere else, or get Boston to offer more.

Act like a competent organization

Don't get fleeced, don't add salary to the bottom 6 that has that issue already

Or would you totally be cool with a 5th rounder because the Sabres just had no control and it was all on Boston and Hall?

I mean if that's the case why didn't Boston just get him for nothing ? They obviously thought it was possible he'd go elsewhere to offer anything in the first place, right?

- sbroads24

Most GM's don't fleece each other at all costs

Sweeney likely knew Adams was in a tough bind, so rather than "Screw" him over, he offered a fair, albeit underwhelming deal, so Adams at least got something of value and the Bruins got the player they wanted

NHL Hockey men are a fraternity. Sweeney will need another job in hockey one day and you don't get those by turning the screws on your peers. That's why you see the same names/faces recycled as much as you do.

This is actually pretty not factual on every level. Good work.
