What's sad is that Hall and Staal's value tanked so hard that this is what we are left with. That's the sad part. Looking at the trades for face value with what we know now, I think we did average. Staal looks as bad as he did here. Interested to see if Hall turns it around.

Also interested to see what Bjork has in him. Casey and Tallness were nothing before the season started and they finally look competent. There's a chance this kid does too.

feel like im in crazytown here

weve been bashing all these players for being terrible, not even looking interested at all, and they produced like 6 wins in 30 games as our most important players and we are mad about the lack of return they got in trades?

montour is the only one that there was no reason to make that deal

- robz228

How well have things gone in Columbus this year? They've sucked and are sellers, both Foligno and Savard are having down years, but apparently their values are at high.

Hall is better than Foligno. He's better than Carter. He's better than Palmeri

Montour, once freed from Ralph’s system, was looking good. He’s always going to be a bit of a defensive liability but was really driving offense
- lulags

That's the thing. Teams don't want those kind of players for the playoffs. They want lockdown, defensive, tough to play against guys. Foligno. Savard. Goodrow. Coleman. That's the poop that's worth something. offensive guys that aren't scoring? Yeah, you can see how awesome that market is.

1. Flat cap, no one has any space to do anything.
2. Hall had a NMC
3. Hall, a guy strictly used for offense, didn't provide offense.
4. All insiders had him worth a 3rd round pick.
5. There was a clear bidding war, and it says a lot about Hall's value when this is the return.
6. Bjork is whatever, and Kevyn has a lot of ability to reshape the roster this year.

All this butthurt is simply people lining up at the Peace Bridge because Kevyn didn't get anything for Hall. Your disappointment should be directed at Hall for not actually doing anything. The name recognition far outweighs his real value. Like Staal, who has also been useless, spare an OT goal in his first game.

Hall's performance is more disappointing than what he netted in a trade. Let's also try to keep in mind we gave up nothing to get him and Lazar. Bjork will have a new opportunity under a new coach, and you all should be pretty familiar with what can happen with players under a new coach and system.

Everyone 'giving up' on this franchise because of a (frank)ing trade. So the last ten years didn't do it, but getting a 2nd for Hall did? Grow up.

- TheSabresTaco

I'm pretty grown up thanks.

What is more irritating to me is that throughout the past 7 months or whatever, Adam's has made questionable move after questionable move and each one is dismissed by the Blue Skies Forever club here as inconsequential.
Yet you add them up, and collectively he has assembled a poopty, expensive roster..but y'all dismiss it as Ralph's fault.

Also, it was laughable because it couldn't be sadder for the GM to be on video thinking that adding Hall was the final ticket to competing.

So, as a grown up, I try to look at the bigger picture and make evaluations in context.

Adam's may be a fine, smart guy. He is wet behind the ears as a GM and he was fleeced in this deal.
-Girgs at $700k too much, because he jumped the UFA gun by hours...then doubling down on the gadd and making it a 3 year term.
- Tage for 3 years at $1.4m, when he showed the Vet min was his true value
- Eakins, 'nuff said
- Miss-judged Staal
- Overpaid Hall to make a splash signing
- walked Ullmark to UFA status
- gave all the leverage to Sam for upcoming contract negotiations...my bet he goes to Arb for 1 year and GONE.

So no, alone, not a big deal..but collectively showing very alarming signs.

I feel all grown up now! Lol.

Bjork was on a competent Boston team, he was given scoring line minutes and failed. His underlying numbers are god awful.

He’s aBout to be 25. He’s a 4th line guy.

When you see what other prices are going for is it?

Jeff Carter got more than Brandon Montour.

Haven't read up on it, but aren't there conditions on both picks

At least the current guy isn't responsible for that. The third, yes, but other than his short burst of a few points, what has he done. He transitions the puck. Bout it.

Foligno is a player with folklore level "intangibles"

Hall is a player who goes to a new team to help them win the lottery

Columbus is having their first bad season in a while, Buffalo is missing the playoffs for the 10th straight season. We are dealing from a position of absolutely 0 leverage, while trying to trade players who are all having their worst career seasons

What gets me is that no one looks at the multitude of variables. The positions, the money, the role, the effectiveness in that role, the age. Whatever. I'm as mad at this franchise as I was yesterday. They suck. This Hall trade looks bad because of name recognition alone. The guy didn't do what he was paid to do. It's that simple.

So has Palmeri and Foligno.

Both got firsts

- Pegullaville

Hall is having a disgraceful season.
His value is very low.

You're kidding yourself comparing what foligno brings in a playoff run is equivalent to the career long loser in hall.

If you want to look at strictly analytics - xGF, bad shooting percentage. Of course hall was the best player dealt so far with a very lackluster return

Its no secret that GMs don't view the game this way though

If hall had so much more value than jeff carter why didn't the penguins just beat bostons bad offer?

Yes this year too

KP is a very average winger, Carter is cooked, and Foligno was on pace to be a 30 point player playing on CBUS top line
