I’d rather sit on Ullmark out of spite than trade him for nothing
- lulags

fair point...he's probably worth a 3rd round pick as a starter with a low cap-hit...hell, eating half of his celery makes his cap-hit rather small on a prorated scale should assure that, maybe even get more

He’s better than David Savard and Nick Foligno.

I think you’re way too emotional on Hall because you’re mad he didn’t work out here

He’s still a good player who’s probably going to immediately to go whatever teams top line and PP1 that trades for him.

His underlying numbers are all good

- sbroads24

Probably true. After watching him for a season I just dont care for him. His style is "throw myself at a puck and see what chaos ensues"

If he's supposed to be a playmaker, I never saw it

I can’t blame him for leaving if he does but man, what a waste if he does

I think he’s obviously not the same player he once was, but in a non career low shooting season he probably has 8-10 goals and is doesn’t look half as bad.

Unless we're getting great return on Ullmark I'd rather keep him and try to re-sign him

This is what happens when you dik around with a guy for multiple years in arbitration. Sabres didn't show faith in Ullmark even though the positive development was there. And now they reap what they sow.

That said, there's goalies all over the place.

- TheSabresTaco

But nobody was sure about him before this year. You can make a case for why they didn't. Not locking up or moving 23 is far more egregious.

Can’t blame Ullmark for wanting to test FA. Few things going for Buf tho. Covid, doubt UFA is going to be very active, or big dollars with term handed out. Obviously he’s played here, developed here, so he might give the last call to Buf. Just trying to be positive about it, I’ve been a defender for a while.

Why? Our bargaining power only goes down from here on out. They tried to sign him and he asked for crazy numbers

Just because he doesn't want to sign now doesn't mean he won't sign in the offseason.

Holding onto him shows him respect

Don't want to get a 3rd rounder for him

It's a business and every player knows that.

Do you think the price is coming down just because we don't trade him?

yeah...he and skunk have been treated similarly contract-wise...and tbh, i think the sabres were right in playing it that way...ullmark is a good goalie, a 1A starter....however, he has never started more than 37 games in a season and he still has some kinks to iron out...joonas korprisalo has started way more games and hit 37 in a season, his cap-hit is $2.8m...phillipp grubauer has started 207 games and will hit the mid-30's in games played for the third straight year in colorado...he's at $3.3m...

i could see it. pens have to maximize what little time they have left as Crosby/Malkin are on the backside of their careers.

Not to mention Burke said he wanted to make moves. Tons of possibilities now. We will get our return.
