To get Jones, you could start with Myers and Patrick, and then add another prospect and/or pick to sweeten the deal.

Probably. Seems a bit steep for me.

I was thinking that Myers and Ghost would be traded, and Haag would be selected by Seattle in the ED, so going into next season it might look like this:

Provy / York
Ellis, Ekholm or Jones / Sanheim
Morin / Braun

7th: Zamula

- jd250

You really think Seattle is going to make hagg their pick?

Its the way internet GMs make trades. They offer stuff they don't want and expect to get in return a really valuable piece.

I cracked the code how sports fans make trades for their team!!!

So if you take two 4's and add them together than you get 8. Since the person thinks they will become much better (potential) you multiple the score by the number of players, so 8 x 2 equals 16. Now they are worth a player that is a 9 or 10, technically you would be overpaying 16 > 9.

Took a couple years, but finally figured out the mind of a delusional fan.

Realistic trade:

I want that player...[fill in name of player every team would want]

The players I don't want to get rid of are....[fill in names]

The cost will be 1 or more of those players.

Whatever happened with the Morin game misconduct? Did he get fined?

I do, because there had to be a reason for it. Otherwise, why would any team pass on a potential 40 goal scorer (seriously doubt it) let alone 14 teams? My guess is because of size and how we would often get bulldozed in his own zone.

Don't get me wrong, I wanted them to pick the guy too, and every time he wasn't picked was a surprise to me. But to scream about something many other teams did as well reeks of hindsight.

- MBFlyerfan
In my particular case it's not hindsight. I was screaming at the TV(especially when they passed on him the second time) that night. All that being said, there is no way as of yet to see how his game translates to the NHL level, but guys like Debrincat that were passed over by many teams because of size proved teams wrong. I'm also not saying that York is a bad pick(time will tell there too), but I just wanted the Flyers to take the guy with more pizazz and possible upside for a change. And let's face it, this team of play makers is badly in need of a shoot first dynamic goal scorer.

Really, why not? Oh, never mind...I forgot he doesn’t fit the makeup of this team. Frederic plays with tenacity, sticks up for his teammates, and plays like he actually gives a sh*t.
- BroadSTmayhem

This team needs more skill than that. Not the kind of player I think we need.

The league probably looked at the replay and decided to quietly sweep that awful call under the rug. That hit wasn't worthy of a 5 minute major let alone a fine or suspension. The ref overreacted to the guy being injured. Should have been a 2 minute boarding call.

LOL. Why would you suggest that Columbus would accept a player that you claim SUCKS and doesn't get it and never will? Not to mention a player in Patrick who is not exactly flourishing, who you labeled a bust.

Maybe, but I would slot Myers/Zamula as similar players.. Think back about the Weber offer sheet and what current compensation would be:
$4,363,095 to $6,544,640 First and third-round picks
$6,544,640 to $8,726,188 First, second and third-round picks
$8,726,188 to $10,907,735 Two firsts, a second and third-round picks
Over $10,907,735 Four first-round picks

Throw Hedman in there also. You could start a bidding war for Patrick. Or, you could maybe throw a cheesesteak/Patrick combo for Dougie Hamilton.

First I want to preface by saying my following question excludes exceptional players such Crosby, Ovechkin, McDavid, etc. Those players can dynamically change a team, but history shows even when those players put up beautiful looking numbers success of the team does not always come with it. Those players just, or at least should, make the process of building a winning team much much easier.

Now on to my question:

At this very moment if the Flyers acquired a "shoot first dynamic goal scorer" lets say...David Pastrnak for absolutely nothing would the Flyers win more games? Remember they get Pastrnak for nothing, just plop him right into the lineup today. Do all the problems the Flyers have been having this year (and previous years) with defense, goaltending and/or consistency magical disappear? Think long and hard about that.

To partially help answer the question, yes they do become a better team...on paper, just like any team would by adding a player of that type, but that isn't my real question. Do they really win more games and do all the issues revolving the team go away?

I mean I know what my shallow answer would be, yes I want to add that player to the team because at least it would be a fun player to watch and then I could examine his great stats then maybe tell others the Flyers have one of the top scorers in the league. Again, but that isn't really the question I asked.

So what's your answer?

Best news about this game is we don’t play the Bruins again.

Flyers Twitter is a poop show right now. Seeing suggestions Chuck should be fired if he doesn’t trade for a top pairing d man this summer. Last I checked, it takes two teams to make a trade. Also easier said than done when the cap isn’t flat and there’s an expansion draft looming. People demanding big changes will be unhappy imo.

We are all unhappy, demanding at least some changes is reasonable imo.

I think Chuck will definitely make a play for a Dman, but as you mention, we'll see what he can do. They don't grow on trees. I hate being patient too, but what's worse? Waiting or making stupid moves that set us back?

Do all the problems the Flyers have been having this year (and previous years) with defense, goaltending and/or consistency magical disappear? Think long and hard about that. I'm actually of the belief(right or wrong) that their defense isn't as bad as it's cracked up to be. They have too many forwards that don't back check and the gaps between the forwards and defenders is too big. Yes, I blame a lot of this team's defensive issues on their forward group.
To partially help answer the question, yes they do become a better team...on paper, just like any team would by adding a player of that type, but that isn't my real question. Do they really win more games and do all the issues revolving the team go away?

Yes, it makes them a better team and I think it would certainly give them more wins. Just look at the games in April so far. I think they have been playing better, but they aren't getting the consistent scoring. With a guy like Pasta this team may have 3 to 5 more wins this year. Oh, and that's not to mention their shoot out issues. I mean, how many points do they throw away a season with all their shoot out losses. To your other point, no, it doesn't clear up all their other warts. They need a legit #1 pairing defender to play with Provorov and I think this team's most glaring need is more physical/speedier forwards to play the type of system that AV wants them to play(that's why I wasn't happy that they let Pitlick go). I actually don't think their defense is that bad(perhaps I'm wrong). Many of their forwards are slow to get back into the play when it goes the other way(speed or laziness) and that makes the team defense awful.

Only player that comes to mind and moves the needle for me is Patrick Kane. That guy literally controls the pace and play of every shift.
