It's usually a troll line to say the North is an easy division. Until we see the semi finals it is open to interpretation. In my view the Avalanche have by far the easiest division, with 2 strong teams, one mediocre team and junk after that. Arizona is holding down a playoff spot and have allowed 129 GA and are -15 in goal differential. Compare Arizona to Montreal and then tell me the North is the weakest division. - winsix
There will be am upset in the first round and im hoping it isnt the leafs.
Also hope for a healthy team

I believe they call this wonderful fantasy land ...Tampa Bay? - The Law
Tampa needs a top 4 RD like Manson or Savard. Their right side is garbage. Cernak is good. But Rutta and Schenn stink. Foote is green and can't skate very fast. JBB will do something. Vasi saves their a$$ alot more than people think. TB really misses Shattenkirk. |

I feel like Dubas always just makes moves that we didnt see coming. He seems to just smokescreen the media making them obsess over a few players they barely have interest in and then he pulls the trigger on a guy that makes sense but had zero knowledge about it happening.
With that being said here are my guesses

Mantha
Rakell
Iafallo

My list would be:
Must Get: Depth defenceman. Gotta be 7-8 deep and you have to be worried about how little the guys outside the top6 have played all year.
Should Get: Another forward to work in and around the lineup.
Maybe Get: If they're worried at all about the health of FA and JC then they should grab another guy that would give them a chance if the injuries hit. |

Tampa better hope they can win the division, Florida will be no pushover in the first round. They are 2 and 2 head to head with 4 games to go against each other, including the last two of the season. Those last two games may determine home ice for the 2nd and 3rd seeds. |

Wood I dont see it
Foligno would be nice but I am starting to doubt CBJ trades him in a buyers market. They wont get what they want for him

Ya and I think I read that all they can add is a guy on a minimum contract.
Stevie Y will help them out. Biega for a first rounder! |

While a gaping hole can be desirable in certain circumstances, Leafs will choose the $5 million in cap relief in this instance. - winsix
Thatโs possible. The option of putting him on LTIR has been there since the injury, they just had to make a move to get Nash onto the roster. |

So JK is a bad GM because he would waste a UFA asset then? |

He is their captain and a long time player for them....yeah I don't think they are trading him for cheaper than he is worth and that is what the insiders are saying too.
Getzlaf isn't going anywhere for similar reasons. |

If Foligno wants to go back to Columbus or they want to keep him, then they probably don't trade him . . . but he's a UFA at the end of the year and they're not going anywhere. Even a crappy return is better than no return.
It's funny, because I look at the names floated (guys with 1 year or 2 years left on rebuilding teams) . . . The only deal that makes sense if Freddy is truly injured and moving to LTIR for the remainder of the regular season is I circle back to Foligno + Savard + Korpisalo. That's an assload of cap (5.5 + 4.2 + 2.6) - 12.5m. You can't fit that under Andersen's 5m LTIR. We'd have to overpay to get them to retain 50% and bounce it to a 3rd party (like the mentioned Chicago) who then retains more than 30% and up to 50% of the remaining $6.25m for more picks.
We probably send a 1st, an A prospect, and a B prospect to Columbus, and then a 3rd or 4th to Chicago for the retention . . .
Edit: I probably shouldn't say the ONLY deal, but if Fred's truly injured, we're going to need a G, we want to strengthen the LW and D positions . . .so this works. |

Detroit, SJ and Chicago will all be picking assets for cap space by the TDL.
