Hall straight up for like a 3rd?
- TheMussel

May as well we got the defensive penalty killing guy in Nash.
Jumbo has to go though. Unless we trade a forward for defense.

According to the Athletic they have enough room to add a couple of contracts (if $ retained) without using Freddie’s cap space. They see this pushing Engvall to 4 line wing and Kerfoot up to 3rd C if nobody else is added.

What happened to Phelps?
- bobbyisno1

Nothing was just an opener. Bichette bobbled a routine grounder with bases loaded trying to make an easy out at second. Cost us 4 runs.

I really think there will be no room for Jumbo soon. Game is too fast for him now.

Makes sense. Why put Anderson on LTIR if we’re not going to use it?

As far as I understand they have $5.8 now, $5 of which gets used if Freddie comes back. They have a few other moves to add a bit more savings before Monday.

So they can find ways to make deals and still be able to use Freddie if that’s what they want or just use his $ and keep him on LTIR if they think he’s really done. They put him on today to be able to add Nash.

Makes sense

Despite being on IR in Columbus, Toronto still had to fit Nash under the cap before placing him on IR/LTIR.

Our assumption is the #Leafs made a recall, got close to the ceiling, placed Andersen, acquired Nash, then placed Nash on LTIR.

Bottom six getting crowded. If they add somebody to top six and drop Chucky, you could end up with

Kerfoot, Gally, Mik or Engvall
Nash, Simmons, Spezza

Whatever combo looks pretty damn good

Not sure but I think he's only a cap hit if he's in the line up.

Kind of wonder if Keefe wants Hyman to be the heart of that 3rd line. Maybe Gally stays with Snake and they acquire a LW to play with the superstar kids line?

There’s pretty widespread agreement that Andersen was put on LTIR to make room for Nash and that other guys were called up to get as close to cap as possible. The confusing question is how much space they have and what options they have going forward.

I keep coming back to that but it seems like coaching malpractice to move Hyman away from those two.

Don't know, but i did find out that players have daily cap hits and it's not on a per game basis.
His daily cap hit is $23,707 so why would they need Freddy's space, it's all so confusing.

I agree. Keefe really, really, really wants to fight the obvious. I guess maybe because we were always going to get Taylor Hall?

Yeah smart move gaining some LITR. Closer to the cap we are more LTIR gained.
