Adding a guy you believe can help on the 4th line once healthy and also creates cap space. Very smart move.

Some guy: Leaf calculator thugs will trade for a dead guy one day to gain $1M in cap space. Other GMs are playing Hungry Hungry Hippo and ours are playing 5D chess with dark matter

Leafs take a guy off clb hands that they can’t play anymore (out 4-6weeks) and thus don’t have to pay anymore.

Why would clb want to pay for that when he’s not going to play again for them. If this is indeed how it goes down then sneaky move for sure.

He’s expected to play. I’ve seen two pieces describe him as best shut down 4th line C in the league. Freddie has to stay on LTIR till playoffs.

They still gain his 2.75m even if Freddy comes back prior to the playoffs don't they?
