How many of these guys will sign for less than what Pearson got, 2?
- Reubenkincade

~0.5 PPG UFA players that I think will sign for around that or less:

Alex Iafallo
Jason Spezza
Phillip Danault
Blake Coleman
Alexander Wennberg
Mattias Janmark
Mikael Granlund
Derick Brassard

But the point isn't is Pearson's contract reasonable, it's should it have been signed at all. And the answer is no, it shouldn't have, not at that point.

“We are all losers” is not a great marketing slogan. It’s true, but not the best approach.

0.5 PPG players?

Here's 8 of them, most are better than Pearson and all UFA's

Nick Foligno
Kyle Palmeiri
Marcus Johanssen
Zach Hyman
Tomas Tatar
Mike Hoffman
Brandon Saad
Blake Coleman

- TheGame316

These guys mostly all get paid considerably more than Pearson. Hyman is due a big raise, would be a great pick up but we can't afford him. I think the majority on here will be above 3.5. There's also the that some of these are injury prone and defensive liability players. But hey, they are better and will be cheaper cause... they aren't Canucks?!

Danault has been a sleke finalist the last two years. If he can be had for 3.5, i hope JB does whatever he needs to.

Alright, take him off the list – he turned down 5 mil/yr last year and his production has dropped. Still a lot of guys. But the larger point remains, it's a bad contract because of the situation and context of the team.

Podkolzin is a beast. Kid makes so much of the minutes he's given, and still coming close to breaking KHL records for his age
- Codes1087
Remember when he wasn't putting up points and people were calling him a bust?

Tied for most points by a U20 player in KHL playoffs history

Looking like a younger, faster, better Tanner Pearson out there

So tampa pays a 1st and a 4th to have Detroit take 25% of Savards salary from Columbus.

Sergachev
McDonough
Savard
Hedman
Cernak

Super craft work by Tampa, but what a mockery of the current CBA and salary cap

So a 1st to CLB plus Brian Lashoff

DET gets a 4th for taking 25% of Savard's salary

TB gets Savard.

I like what all three teams here did, frankly; but for the Red Wings to net a 4th round pick for 25 percent of Savard's remaining salary is indeed tidy work as far as setting the new market for renting out cap space

They’re barely top ten in their division. Although they are piling up games in hand.

I'm guessing that JB has been told that taking on money for picks is most likely an absolute no.

Even if it wasn’t, they don’t have the cap space to take on any money.

It took TB about 7 years to draft the players to win them a cup and another 4 years after that to win it.

I don't think that they will have a Chicago like dynasty

Has Benning ever made a trade that brought us just a pick and not a body? that's the problem with the poopty pro scouting on this team.
