Seeing the mighty Zohan with no points last night... just no puck luck or he play bad?
- Guile

He seemed a little less engaged last night, but it's probably because he realize his line sucks.

I know he plays both wings. He might be one of the better options for the Pens since he'd cost no assets.
- Rinosaur

I wouldn't mind bringing him in, but I don't think he really fits anywhere once we get healthy.

It really comes down to how they plan on constructing this team with McCann and Blueger, but I think there's still a hole at RW.

I think him and Angello will be a good combo for the 4th line once everyone is healthy.

No one worth mentioning if anyone

Agree. They will try and add a depth forward but they are largely going to win or lose with the guys they have.

Wow, I thought we'd at least get a 7th for Riikola....

We have two gaping holes in the top 9. When everyone’s healthy, Rodrigues is still playing on a top 3 line. We definitely need reinforcements, I just don’t think we can afford them.
- Victoro311

I know that everyone here considers the BART line to be our 4th line, but I think that HCMS and GMHex consider that our 3rd. And if that is the case, McCann and Kapp will be Malkin's wingers. So they will only be looking for 4th line fillers.

I feel that if they thought differently, Staal would be a Penguin right now...

There is a great article in the Athletuc about the dangers of doing too much at the grade deadline and use the Iginla to the Pens trade as an example.

Iginla? The guy crushed it with us despite playing the off wing. Doug Murray tanked that team. Plus Tukka stole that series.

I'd imagine they tried. Or they could just be trying to sneak him through waivers at a time teams don't want to make claims.

Not disagreeing, they just said it messed with the team chemistry... especially on the PP

Iggy to the Pens wasn’t too much. The problem was Disco Dippoop playing him on his off wing after the dude had like 20 years of NHL experience playing the RW.

I think they are trying to get rid of him. The Pens already have Rud and POJ, Riikola represents over $1million in wasted cap space

I dont see there being much interest in a player thats had zero sample size this season, or even much sample size in the NHL, really, who has an over a mill cap hit.

Now that I've said this, watch a team claim him hahah

It wasn't just Iggy. The Pens made four big trades while the team was gelling like Magellan... it also didn't help when Crosby took an Orpik slappy to the chops

You don’t sneak fringe NHLers through waivers.

This is correct. The plan is going to be to bury Blueger with tough minutes so the top 6 gets favorable matchups. Not doing that with 4th line minutes.

Would be a shame to waste Zucker or McCann with our depth guys. So hopefully they can add another offensive player to work with.

The questions really should be do the Pens have nine top nine players? Or 6 top 6 players 6? You have that, you're better then most teams even if they aren't concentrated in the top 3 lines.

Iginla was great, 4th on the team in scoring that run. Should have been used better, but well worth the trade.

It was the other trades that messed them up. Specifically getting Morrow and Murray to replace Kennedy and Despres which just made them older and slower. Though with how bad they lost there was a lot more to blame.

It was so easy to construct the top 2 lines.
Kunitz-Sid-Dupuis
Neal-Geno-Iginla (moves Neal back to LW)
OR
Dupuis-Sid-Iginla
Kunitz-Geno-Neal(This line was bomb)
Literally that easy. He couldn't do it though.

He also scratched Jokinen which was dumb AF

Old management acted like they couldn't risk putting him through waivers.

But I'm fine with him getting claimed. He might do fine as a bottom pairing LD, but he's not getting that chance here and we need the cap space.

Yes, move your generational superstar centre who played his whole career at centre to wing for Jared McCann. That seems like a great idea.
- 10inchTerror

We did it with Lemieux when he was having back problems. Of course that was back when players played thru injuries.
