Flyers shopping Nolan Patrick hard - jimbro83
Patrick is part of the defensive problem in Philthy. Despite being good at faceoffs he is in the top ten NHL minus leaders at MINUS 18. Chytil is on the upswing, Patrick is not.
There is no way the Rangers/Flyers would ever do that trade. Both players are so young still with a lot of potential. If either broke out with the other franchise it would blow up in someone's face for years
I doubt the Rangers make any moves til they have an idea what Strome’s contract demands are going to be. I see that being the ultimate domino in our center situation.

You are probably right there.
I try to preach patience, but I have to admit that Chytil not evening being sent out with his line to take draws last night really irked me. Kid hasn't even managed to crack 40%. If this keeps up it basically forces their hand.

He annoys me cause he puts his head down a lot and tries to just make a play to the net. He doesn't use LAF or Kakko enough in the offensive zone. Too many turnovers and shots missed.

Made me so mad. That move doesn't even work in peewees...
Takes the whole line out of sync from the drop of the puck. Either force his hand and make him take faceoffs or stop putting him as the C of the third line. Just leave Rooney with Laf and Kakko in those situations.

It seems to me that winning faceoffs should be a teachable/learnable skill. I don't know why we don't hire some for former player who was good at it to teach our centers how to improve.

Exactly what I've been saying for over a year. He hasn't gotten it yet (or any of the others!) that's for sure.

It's also the one aspect of the game if the other player across from you is just better, it doesn't matter how much you practice it

Somewhat true, but the worst team in the league (us, for (frank)s sake ) only loses 10% more than they win, on average. That is a number that shows you the face off game is quite fluid.

I'm not saying you're wrong but don't you think a player that went 2nd OA could reinvent himself in a new system?

He could.
Hell, he could be a late bloomer like Strome. But that doesn't mean I'll give up on Chytil ( who I feel is still trending up slightly ) to take that chance.

Chytil is definitely trending up, no question - jimbro83
We gonna wait 6 years for him to maybe hit the mark? Pretty sure Zib and Panarin didnt sign up to wait for some 20 year old to maybe get “good”.
Take him, and a few assets and get someone that IS good. For all that Strome is deficient in, if we do retain him, our 3C and 4C have to make up for them. First and foremost we need a 3C that can actually play the center position, and can center the PP2.
