He took a pay cut for the long term security of a 3 year deal.

Nothing crazy about Kravs looking more ready at this level than Laf. Kravs is older, stronger, and played a couple more years of pro hockey.

I wonder if we will see more "home discount" deals for a lot of players during the flat cap era.
Teams will have a hard time throwing out the big contracts for middle/lower 6 players.
The Rangers should definitely take advantage of this ERA on the upcoming contracts.

This is what I've been saying regarding Buch.
Not sure it will go that way, but...

Yea. I think the Rangers should throw offers to their players with expiring contract that fit the system and see what sticks. And then others, wait until the market is set to see what makes sense. I think that will give the Rangers a better idea of trading options as well.

Teams may want to trade for established contracts more so now than ever so they know what their cap will look like.

Nikita Gusev on unconditional waivers for purposes of termination. Has not played since March 20, as young players take over in NJ. Was on waivers 9 days ago, but hit of $4.5M made it untradeable, unfortunately. This creates possibility of signing elsewhere at a lower number.

I believe it’s like a buyout but I’m not 100% on that

that's a weird one

he was pretty good last year and finished the season before the pause with 13 points in his last 10 games

I don't know what his story is or if he had Covid, but he just seems to have not been able to get going in this shortened season at all

CapFriendly
@CapFriendly

Nikita Gusev is on unconditional waivers for the purpose of contract termination. With 30 days left in the season, and if he clears tomorrow, Gusev will forfeit $1,000,000 in salary.

For the #Devils, in addition to saving $1M in salary they will also create $856,250 in c/space.

Benning is so stupid. He's going to have no room to sign Hughes and Pettersson

He played great for stretches last year, but really fell off a cliff this season. Maybe NHL is too physical for him or maybe he had similar aftereffects of COVID like Mika. Guy certainly has talent, maybe he lands somewhere else...

Obviously we don’t know how everyone will pan out, but how would u guys say they’ve done on their 1st round picks the past 4 years? I say the only “mistake” was Lias.

No doubt. Maybe an A*. Things might be different if they don't win the lotto, but Gorton and staff have done a great job in the draft. Even with players in other rounds.

two times they traded up, once for K'Andre Miller and once for Braden Schneider

one was a grand slam

we shall see how the other one turns out
