it's harder to trade Jones, and Lundkvist for that matter until they are signed
especially Jones, he could refuse to sign until August 2023 and become a UFA if he really wants to - jimbro83
I understand, theyll also be on ELC's and potentially bridge deals, but eventually somethings gotta give. |

Were gonna have a decision to make eventually between Miller, Lindgren and Jones. If Jones is as good as advertised, its gonna be impossible to keep everyone (Fox, Trouba, Schneider, Lundkvist included).
Were gonna have to make a Seth Jones type of trade eventually. - aecliptic
Not disagreeing, but just curious why you feel this way? I see the left side of the future as Lindgren, Miller and Jones. Obviously some other guys can make a push for that last spot like Hajek, Reunanen, or Robertson, but they are more likely trade bait IMO. I see the right right side where things will get interesting. Fox, Trouba, Lundkvist, Schneider. Hopefully Trouba adds some value and the cap goes up in the next few years so he becomes trade-able. |

it's confirmed that Kucherov is healthy
if the league had any balls, Tampa should have to create 9.5 million in cap space by tomorrow - jimbro83
If this was a loophole that the Rangers were exploiting to their advantage, you can bet the rule would change tomorrow... |

If the Rangers win tonight it will be interesting to see what this team does before the trade deadline tomorrow. |

The problem is we financially cant afford to have 6 all-star defensemen. Eventually everyone is going to want to get paid, but also, everyone is going to want minutes. Like I said, sure we will have ELC's and bridge deals to buffer it, but eventually the big money will come and we cant tie up 60% of our cap in defense. |

The question is how do you buy without breaking up whats making this team work?
Personally, the only person/position that needs a serious upgrade is 3C, PP2 C. If we can do that without compromising too much of what makes us so deadly Im all in. Otherwise, just wait for the offseason and cash in on some rentals. |

Got it. Yea, more of a long term issues and a lot will have to go right to get into that situation. Would be a good problem to have at that point. |

That’s a pretty big assumption that they’ll all be all star types. Just because they’ll be good doesn’t mean we’ll have to pay through the nose to keep everyone around.
The financial concerns are overblown. Cross that bridge when we get there. No need to worry about it now. |

Lindgren will also never be an all star or a big money guy. Him and Fox are great together but at some point maybe they get separated and he moves down to 3rd pair. More of a shutdown, PK guy. But like you said, way too soon to worry about this stuff.

You say that but both Marc Staal and Girardi made an all star team and got big money. Lindgren looks to be very similar type of player |

Its not about crossing the bridge when we get there, its about how do we make this team better by using our deepest assets. We cant just sit here and twiddle our thumbs watching prospects develop mean while not filling gaps in the team... well really just 1 gaping need. |

Not picking on you.
We win a game and we are playoff bound.
Lose one and we are talking about draft position.
I think the playoffs are out of reach, let's just enjoy the rest of the season. |

One thing I just thought about trading Blackwell. Maybe Gorton is thinking either we trade him now and get some value or loose him for nothing to Seattle. Maybe the Rangers already have it made up they will leave him exposed. The next 24 hours may tell. |

Hating the Kings as much as I do, since I live in SoCal, and had to endure 2014…
So many here are high on Kupari, and I understand why, since we have opposite needs, I can’t imagine some subset of Chytil, Gauthier, Hajak, Reunanen couldn’t get it done. They have more centers than they could ever ice.
Not necessarily now, but in the off season.

Kupari would be the only trade that would make sense for them at the deadline if they were buyers. Kings could continue building for the future, and we would get an upgrade at 3C and PP2C
