They would lose him on waivers, not saying I care but it's why it hasn't been done

ohh right, the god damn waivers lol... Byron wasn't claimed because of his contract but I guess teams would grab Mete since he's on the cheap side of things so very low risk

Yeah, and for what it's worth, he's better than he was at the same time last year. But he also had a "ok" season last year and raised his level of play during the playoffs.

Hopefully he finds a way to play at that next level consistantly at some point.

Kind of a positive that his "sophomore jinx" would be a slight improvement over his rookie season

For sure he gets claimed but I don't see why they can't call up Fleury and sit Mete

At this point, the risk of losing a player that's not good enough to play as a 6th defenseman doesn't sound like a big risk if it means trying someone who might actually be good enough.

ideally you would have a good enough defense to not really care about what happens to Mete... surely Bargainbin is shopping for a dman as we speak

Just the risk of another D going down, and then another

I would tend to agree but perhaps their player evaluation says otherwise... has Fleury looked good with the Rocket this year?

If too many defensemen go down, we'll be in trouble wheter Mete has been grabbed by another team or not.

I'd rather have Ouellet, Fleury or Leskinen at this point.

They would have to send salary back to Anaheim, kind of break up the long term, expensive asset into a few shorter commitments along with the assets required to actually make the trade worth it for the Ducks

I mean, don't expect much offense from him.

But he's not making mistakes on the defensive zone, good coverage and can use his body for big hits.

he has 5 assists in 18 games, I thought he'd put up a bit more points but yeah if he's solid defensively and doesn't make costly mistakes then it's already an improvement

Heading into a rebuild... almost 36 million still owed to Fowler compared to less than 12 to Drouin... obviously that's just salary matching, then you need to add assets that actually entice Anaheim into a deal

for sure, and that's why a guy like Ekholm would be a welcomed addition as well, they need someone to play in the top 4 so that everyone falls in the right chair.. adding a depth 6th D wouldn't help the team a whole lot
