Trotz spending a lot of time today on Wahlstrom. He skated hard today and Trotz says he will be a big part of #Isles future and will be back in lineup. Just not tonight. There are roster concerns through Monday's trade deadline regarding having to potentially expose players.

Looks like the same game roster for #Isles, no Wahlstrom or Bellows. Trotz to address media shortly.

Islanders do, yes. But they’ve also spent a (frank) ton of draft capital these past two seasons. You really wanna hand out more after already moving this year’s 1st?

Just not right now because he thinks having this fat piece of garbage in the line up is the better choice. Just say it

So (frank)ing stupid sorry I’ll never agree with it. We’re not icing the best possible lineup. Period. He’s worried about exposing Komarov after we waived him twice? Gtfo

I believe so. Upstate has a different kind of six-pack, right?

Haha doesn’t make it any less of an incredibly stupid lineup decision.

I wish someone asked Trotz what "roster concerns through Monday's trade deadline regarding having to potentially expose players" meant. I imagine the concern isn't that someone would claim Leo, considering every team's passed on him twice, and also, if a team did claim him, that'd actually help the Isles' cap situation for next season...

The guy was gifted the opportunity from Lameriello after this trade to get rid of a dead weight player that is obviously done in this league and he refuses to take it. I honestly think he’s doing it to be stubborn at this point and because everyone else thinks he’s a (frank)ing idiot for doing it. It defies explanation. Are we saying we would be upset to lose Komarov now? Wtf is he saying?

If I had to guess...... There may be teams that couldn't afford Leo due to the cap earlier in the season that could now afford him, due to the fewer games remaining to be pro-rated. And yes, Leo does have SOME depth value (4th line, PK, etc.) if he could be picked up for free. And Barry really doesn't want to lose him...

Bingo which is incredibly stupid due to the personnel he now suddenly has available to him and of course the cap implications. I for one don’t think there’s a team out there that would take him but if there is a team like the panthers for example who have a ton of space and they’re not taking the opportunity to dump this skell he’s a (frank)ing moron along with lameriello. I hope to god that’s not the case. I can’t picture that level of stupidity but Komarov has been on our first line for twelve games and now we’re healthy scratching Wahlstrom so who knows?

Wasn't he just waived like a week/week and a half ago, though? Can't be that much more savings since then...

And honestly, if someone was going to claim Leo and the Isles didn't waive him because of that, we'll all be pretty mad about that when it comes time to make another Toews-like cap-crunch decision this offseason.

Only player getting exposed is Barzal to a terrible winger.

I thought it was a little longer than that, but the point remains. No one is taking Leo. It's just an Islander fan fantasy.

Now I had to go back and check

He was waived on March 23 and cleared on the 24th...so more like 2 1/2 weeks.
