One wearing a mask with nose exposed, the other no mask. They walk within a couple of feet of me and I ask them to put on a mask. They tried to start a fight, asking me if I was the local hero. I didn't back down at all but I stop short of engaging physically. The two young ladies behind the counter were totally intimidated and too afraid to speak up. What can you do with imbeciles like that running around? I was a little surprised when I saw a Nova Scotia License plate on their rent a wreck.

He got a headache and slight fever - got tested and confirmed positive infection. Further no symptoms. Pretty good I would say for a 62 y old guy.
Again, all these vaccines work really well against severe disease and death - on the original strain. We have to see further results on other strains (AZ bad vs SA strain, but that's not a big surprise looking at their approach).

My dad got the Pfizer, just a little bit of a sore arm. You’re going to get the AZ?

I’m not sure if I’m even going to get vaccinated, not sure 3 or 4 days worth of trials is enough proof for me.

The US has said they will not have a federal passport program but airlines and airports may have a different idea. OR, what if our federal government continues with the ridiculous restrictions on people who arrive but have not been vaccinated.

Have to admit that science wasn't leading on some developments, lot of political influence unfortunately.
My professional background is in the vaccine industry, but I'm upset with how politics have influenced this whole process, in my view a threat to vaccine acceptance in general

He is about 45 and in incredible shape. A triathlete and strong believer in the Paleo diet. Also he is a total anti-vaxxer. So its not entirely politics, rather ignorance.

My employer has been decent enough to provide us a conference call with a doctor regarding vaccine info biweekly for the last 3 months. I know everything I need to know before you and CC start telling me all the things the doctor doesn't know.

I haven’t seen anyone ignore the mandatory mask rules yet, not even once. I’m guessing that that’s the reason for so few cases in Cape Breton. Practically none here.

I was speaking about the politication of the vaccines in development - and in general how governments did a fairly bad job in making decisions .

J&j viral vector platform used for the covid vaccine isvalready used in other licenced vaccines - 200k people (including children and pregnant women)having received it prior to the covid vaccine being rolled out.
That are solid safety data - and in combination with the better (more difficult) trial settings and one-dose, it's arguably one of the most logical approaches out there

I do not know if people died of covid after receiving the Az vaccine, but understand the SA decision was based on proper scientific reasons

No one died during the trial.

the UK variant is much more common here and in the U.S.

Also, as people get vaccinated the idea is that the burden of all variants is reduced.
Also, I imagine some restrictions are going to be in place probably past this year.
Also, Boosters are already being worked on. Late this year or early next year there will be booster vaccines.

As burden drops in the coming years, the opportunity for viable and somehow more dangerous variants decreases drastically.

It will take some time, but this disease will become endemic but under control at some point.
