You’re an easy guy to talk down to.
I thought understanding the significance of getting people vaccinated quickly given the very scary situation the whole country is either facing or going to be facing might actually be of some interest to you in how you think about vaccinating yourself and actually exercise your free choice. You know, informed free choice. Obviously that was a stretch. - Canada Cup
There you go again acting like you know everything, with your 5th grade sarcasm to boot. Just because you've decided that despite some negatives with a vaccine everyone should get it... Doesn't mean everyone else feels the same. Get over yourself. |

See this is the kind of poop you know when you spend your entire life on here. Christ man get a golf membership or something, you're still absolutely ruining retirement for me making it look this miserable. |

I’m with Joel here - no way I’m going to allow a Microsoft chip to be injected in my system.
I’m going to wait for the Corel vaccine.
If anyone wants to print this post, it’s shift + F7 |

No, not everyone should get it. I didn’t. My point is that vaccine shopping to the extent where people are not getting vaccinated and ICUs are filling up is potentially a serious problem. I don’t know where you are but we are in trouble here. |

56, I am getting it.
Wish I could get Pfizer or Moderna instead but my priority was to get a vaccine as quickly as possible. I expect the border to start opening this summer, and I think travellers are going to have to show some proof of vaccine? - Aetherial
Get what you can and go visit your folks. There is so much new info still to be learned but I would trust the science. The sooner the majority has at least one shot, the better. For all the anti vaxxers out there I won't compare you to flat-earthers but it is very close. The small pox vaccine with really primitive medicine basically saved many lives. And that vaccine was invented in 1796.

I just told the fridge repair guy to come tomorrow so I’m out. If I didn’t know a lot of other people under the age of 30, I’d be worried. |

Just had a phone call with my brother - a teacher.
He wants to fly to NYC and go to a Walgreens to get the vaccine.
I have to say, I support it.
Ethically, it’s one less person in line, and one more person vaccinated. |

I don’t like what I’m hearing about the small pox vaccine. A lot of people vaccinated in the 1800s have died. Like a lot. |

Efficacy rates are the most significant metrics used by pharmaceutical companies to get their drug/vaccines approved for use. The clinical trials used are by no means perfect but to say this metric is stupid is over the top. - winsix
You misunderstood my post. I said efficacy rates of these different vaccines are influenced heavily by location and timing of the trials.
All vaccines with market authorization are just fine from an efficacy standpoint - although some seem to provide less effective protection against some strains (e.g. AZ against SA strain) |

It'll probably be another 2-3 months before wife and I can even get vaccinated here. We live 45 minutes from the border, nice plan except you'll get turned back at the ground crossing.
Flying would probably cost us a thousand bucks as it would be two flights just to get out of the country... Plus lost wages in quarantine when back.
So I guess we wait. |

This is the part you'll struggle with, but that's their right. If someone decides they and their family aren't getting the AZ vaccine... That's completely and totally their right. And they don't have to get it validated by you because you see it another way. |

That’s the point, Max. Get a shot of any of the three. Who (frank)ing cared about the difference in trial methods.
Cool that the Argentinian President thought the Sputnik was a good vaccine too, right Max. Until he tested positive. - Canada Cup
Nobody should care about positive tests after getting a vaccine as long symptoms are non existent to mild.
As a note, these vaccine aren't necessarily need to black infection |

You are party right Joël, but at the same time you are not living the AZ vaccine for the wrong reasons (bloodclot stories I assume?).
You'd better look at j&j sputnik and novavax - and stay away from mRNA vaccines if you are worried about safety effects (short and long term) |

Kidding aside. I went into a subway store the other day to buy my son a sub for lunch. While I'm waiting in line, two men - would estimate early thirties walk in. One wearing a mask with nose exposed, the other no mask. They walk within a couple of feet of me and I ask them to put on a mask. They tried to start a fight, asking me if I was the local hero. I didn't back down at all but I stop short of engaging physically. The two young ladies behind the counter were totally intimidated and too afraid to speak up. What can you do with imbeciles like that running around? I was a little surprised when I saw a Nova Scotia License plate on their rent a wreck. |

Have to admit that science wasn't leading on some developments, lot of political influence unfortunately.
My professional background is in the vaccine industry, but I'm upset with how politics have influenced this whole process, in my view a threat to vaccine acceptance in general |

Up to you efficacy of Astra is about 74% vs 94 to 95% for the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. They are pushing the Astra because they had a huge batch they were stuck with (much lower demand) and it has a limited shelf life. - winsix
Astra zeneca was also under trial while the variants were active. Moderna and Pfizer trials were finished by then.
All of them were 100% against death |

Not against all strains (the 81%)
It is quite stupid though to compare the efficacy rates - since trials are not done head to head, but different times and countries. It's comparing apples and oranges.
Best to get any vaccine - 1 shot for all should do.
Covid is relatively easy to develop a vaccine against - it's a 'low hanging fruit disease'.
Only thing , personally I still prefer j&j, sputnik and novavax since based on more traditional and proven platforms. - MaximusAurelius
Brother in Florida told me there were some problems with J&J in Texas. |

With all due respect Max, you are the last person I'm going to be seeking vaccine advice from even as far as random people on a hockey forum go.
My employer has been decent enough to provide us a conference call with a doctor regarding vaccine info biweekly for the last 3 months. I know everything I need to know before you and CC start telling me all the things the doctor doesn't know. |
