There’s no term, he’s a rental. Dubas is a hard guy to read but I would guess he really doesn’t want to be seen not to have acted when they have a shot.
I think Friedman is right when he says they are after the best forward or the best forward who fits. If Hall doesn’t really fit, cool. But then the question is are you happy to add to the third line as your big move? Or is there another second line upgrade? - Canada Cup
Between this and Aaron's comment that Dubas seems to go off-board . . . I think this may the year where he's more predictable, if only because of the flat cap and the Leafs' heavy cap situation, they are likely forced to acquire rental players so they don't have to deal with the contracts in the offseason. If they want a realistic chance at resigning Hyman, they need to leave themselves room. Taking on additional contract space heading into next year will limit their options.
I'd also add before it's argued, that yes we could trade anyone we acquire or make other cap-related moves in the offseason to relieve any pressure or stress, but dealing from a position of weakness (having to deal because you're over the cap) is not going to get the return anyone wants.
Obviously we'll see - but if there were a time when it made sense to just go after a simple rental, this year and next year are probably those times. |

Marner and a 2nd for Chabot
Ottawa gets Eichal for chabot Logan Brown, Filip Gustavsson and 3rd
wtf - senstroll
Holy moly...
And the conclusion is: "Ottawa says no".
The former GM says, "at least this guy put some thought into this!". |

I honestly don't want any big moves at the deadline. I like our forward group. I don't think anybody moves the needle, except arguably Hall, but he's having a rough season, and rentals rarely pan out.
I would like to see us land some defensive depth if Sandin, etc. are not ready, because Marincin is our 7 right now, and that frightens me a bit. |

They always are. Especially because the assumption is that Sanderson would beat out Chabot and you simply can't just have 2 25 minute a night beasts!

Well Chabot is going to be the team's #1 defenseman for the next 7 years until he leaves as a UFA.
I'm not sure trading him for Marner, who would be the team's best forward for the next 4 years before he leaves as a UFA makes sense for them.

I'd like to see a guy that can play with Mikky and Engvall and/or sub in for Gally if he falls off. They need some depth b/c Thornton needs a break ...maybe a long one.
And I agree a depth D is a must have. |

It's dumb all around.
Subtracting Marner and adding Chabot doesn't make us better either. |

7.5 pts behind, but with 3 more players/days than your opponent.
I'd say you've got a 60-40 chance to get the W. - 21peter

Well it would certainly mess with a dynamic that doesn't need to be changed.

We have a lot of flexibility in our forward group and Jumbo on the 4th line with Spezza and Kerfoot has been effective, particularly with Spazda 3, the Renaissance Man having a great season.
I think Simmonds will step it up in the playoffs, when it becomes tighter/more physical. I think Joe will too, as he's a big body that can still cycle when things slow down.
Barabanov looked decent against the Habs the other night too.
And then there is the fact that Nylander and Tavares' minutes are way down; we could add a few more shifts with them in case of injury if we had to ice 11 forwards for some reason. |

Hall said he's open to signing with the team he is traded to, increasing the return the sabres get. I thnk Hall may go to a team that could sign him, Florida maybe.
I agree, I think Dubas will only be after rentals. Who that best fit is? Dunno. I guess foligno?

If you add a forward it should be a high impact guy for one of the top two lines. If they are happy with Gally - if you’re happy and Gally and you know it, shake your hand - then maybe a fallback third line guy who could play up if necessary. Maybe it’s time for the return if the Bozak |

I wonder how his production will drop once Seguin comes back.
But he's been excellent this year for Dallas. |

There will likely not be a lot of money for vaccine manufacturers in annual covid shots, mainly de to competition (20+ vaccines will be available).
Maybe mRNA vaccines will now be able to quicker be developed as therapeutic cancer vaccines - that's a real cashcow.
In general, big pharma makes most money on drugs for chronic conditions (diabetes, blood pleasure other heart conditions etc) anyways.
