Most of the articles I've read/pod casts I've heard,
Have said that this is a "buyer's market". I don't think that Philly is letting him go (let alone to the Pens) and I doubt he would even get a 2nd

- Beatnic57

They definitely wouldn't trade him directly to us that's for sure. I just said a 2nd because it's the only pic we have of value this year. Someone was on here yesterday saying he would get a 1st lol

“The Islanders are a win-now team whether you think they’re good or not.”

Well, they’re 5th in the NHL in points percentage since the start of the 2018-19 season, made it to the EC finals last season, and are at the top of the league this season. They’re good, it’s not really debatable. Anyone who thinks the Islanders aren’t good is stupid.

Definitely.... No panic deals. Rutherford would always make me nervous this time of year. However, there should be some depth players available that won't cost a ton.

Thats not really what will help us though. We either need a scoring top 6 winger or a stud 3C that is a clear upgrade over Blueger. Those are tall asks that usually cost more than what we have. IMO the only way we get those things is if Hall or Arvidson’s market is so tanked that we can get them for way under value or if Getlaf tells ANH that he only wants to go to Pitt. I don’t want to spend anything serious on just “depth” because we’re not good enough for depth to move the needle. Like if Bobby Ryan only costs a 5th or so then ok, but I don’t want to do what the Isles did.

Pierre LeBrun just pasted an article in the Athletic and said

"The sellers outnumber the buyers right now as far as I can tell. I’ve got this weird feeling that prices may crater come Monday and some decent players may be available for cheaper prices."

He also felt that Hall will only get a 2nd or a 3rd.

Hall for a second is exactly the move this team should do. Yes he’s a rental, but he’s also a star and maybe trading for him is the inside track to signing him. Have Zucker get taken in expansion.

I saw that yesterday. I hope that guy is just hoping they get a 1st (cause I's not going to happen).

This could be very interesting change of pace for us, Rutherford was always quick to make a deal while Hex is more patient. Makes you wonder how different things would have been had Hex taken the wheel at the end of last season...

Could one of those four teams be Pittsburgh? Also, Ottawa made it to the EC finals in '17, look at them now.

They aren't much better than the Pens, if at all. They both play much better at home than on the road. Pittsburgh holds a 6-2 (2 OT/SO wins) series advantage.

Good is a relative term. Good could just mean they are a playoff team, this is where the Pens are. It could also mean they are a top echelon team with a realistic shot at the Cup. Which do you believe?

JR would have already traded Poulin and a first for Hall or Palmeri. If Hall could be had for a 2nd , it would already be done. They will get a 1st or a 2nd and a good prospect for him. Would love for the Pens to take a shot on him.
