Flyers do not have a player in the top 45 in scoring. Just checking, is that good? - PLindbergh31
Difficult to tell sometimes
We picked Sanheim in 2014 at 14 and Pastrňák was 25
We picked Patrick in 2017 at 2 and Pettersson was at 5 taking Calder

I will never stop being a Flyers fan. - MJL
Same. They will always be my #1 team. Were I ever to move I could see myself becoming a fan of the local team but they would never supplant the Flyers as my favorite team.
*Not guaranteed to happen though. I now live in NJD/NYR/NYI television market and have for decades but you couldn't pay me to be a fan of any of those teams. lol

So you are saying Hextall's ability to draft and build an organization are completely overrated?

Of course the Canes are rolling out better players: Aho (top 20), Svechnikov (top 30), Trocheck, Hamilton (top 20 defensive scoring) .. these are really good offensive players that have strong chemistry and a good approach. I just posted the top Flyers' scorers over the past 5 seasons, its not even close. - jd250
Trochek haha come on man, that’s your example. Aho and svechnikov, neither guy is more impactful than Coots |

In the world famous 2003 draft, everyone passed on Patrick Bergeron and Shea Weber in the first round. We can please stop Bellyaching? |

2006 draft Flyers had 3 second round picks. Nodl, Ratchuk, Bodrov. They passed over Brad Marchand 3 times. How do you rate that? |

I’m at the sell point. If Laughton gets you a first you take it and don’t care where he goes for that. Maybe a handshake agreement he comes back. But that first could be invaluable come expansion draft. Right now as constructed you have provy, Samhain, and Myers which you will protect. Now I think we have to look at morin as a keeper. He’s showing promise and he’s been out with injuries for a year a time. I think if it’s necessary you throw the kraken that first to take a player like jvr or similar instead of poaching a younger dman. What’s on the forward group that would be exposed that the kraken would take ? Linblom
? Patrick ? I doubt that. |

Every team in 2006 passed on Marchand except the Bruins. I love pretzels but I can't understand your logic here.

As much as they drive me crazy more often times than not, I've been a fan since I could crawl and will remain so for as long as I live! Just once before I die, I want to see them raise the Cup. All I heard were the stories from my parents and my grandfather (he was friends with Orest Kindrachuk) before he passed about how amazing it was when it happened in '74 and '75. So close several times in the 80's and once in the 90's, then 2004 and 2010, but not much since.

How would you rate Fletcher's FA signings as Flyers GM so far? - PLindbergh31
Less than stellar but I'll give him time. |

Pretty sad when Andres Nodl is the most relevant name on this list. His career was a joke. What a draft it was for the Flyers that year. |

This is an overreaction. The worst thing this franchise could do now is overreact to this season. They need to make some changes. They need to bolster the defense. They need to tweak the forwards. They need to add some N/S players that can skate and get to the net. They need to improve special teams. However they don't need a complete breakdown. They have a lot of quality young talent that will get better. - MJL
Agree with all of this. But I will be shocked if Fletcher is a buyer or a seller. He seems like he only looks for bargains (and the gets criticized by the fan base if they think he has overpaid for something: Kevin Hayes). |

Flyers are owned by Comcast now, there will be major moves made this offseason. The last thing Comcast wants is a stagnant Flyers team. |

I don't disagree with you, but can you really teach old dogs new tricks? A lot of what makes a PP successful in this league is the individual talent you put on the ice and their instincts to make the right plays. Has this veteran core ever demonstrated that consistently? By the numbers you would have to answer no, because the Flyers over the past several years have been barely average at best, and barely average does not win you games that matter the most. - jd250
Yes, Giroux, Voracek, Gostisbehere and JVR have all been strong players on the PP in their careers.

Echoing fletcher with its not the right mix. Or similar. I’m saying we have too many puck carriers or similar style of players how does training camp fix that? Where you lost me. - Peter Richards
You're ignoring the posts in total that I've made. The post you quoted is a follow up. I addressed tweaking the forwards in a previous post.

I don't think the Canes (#1 ranked PP) are fielding that much more talent than the Flyers are on the PP.
As Darth Vader said, the Flyers are too static. They try to do everything w/ quick puck movement instead of actually moving their feet. Gotta combine both to break the box. - Tomahawk
I actually don't think they move the puck quick at all. They hold it, survey and then pass. PKer's just have to move a few feet in either direction. They never get the Pkers scrambling or create mini 2 on 1's.
