Haven't been subbed to the Athletic for a couple of years, but when Hart was a prospect, Pronman was showering him w/ compliments. Best goalie prospect since Carey Price, etc etc. - Tomahawk
When did he ever do that? Hart was goalie of the year in the CHL....with crazy numbers and that dippoop rated him the 5th best ...said he wasn’t very athletic. Was a product of team defence. I’m not sure we are talking about the same Pronman, |

Just seems so (frank)ing arbitrary at this point.
Myers and Ghost go from playing 20+ minutes to the pressbox. Enter Hagg, Gus, Prosser, Morin etc who can't be trusted in many game situations so they only get limited minutes. Provorov, who's already buckling under an intense workload, ends up playing like 26-27 mins to compensate. Team struggles worse than before. Then they unscratch Myers/Ghost again.
Rinse repeat. - Tomahawk
Is Ghost scratched too!?

Here we go again. PT21 has now found the gold standard on Carter Hart for when anyone brings up that the Flyers have a potential top goalie in the league in Hart. Just as he did with the player rankings he found on NHL.com. - MJL
Dear god. I’ve posted several times the example of price and there are many others. If you go back and look at Harts play from junior on to now, the anomaly has been this season. Somehow at 22, that’s translated into he won’t be an impact nhl goalie. I mean he’s already showed stellar play in the playoffs and the ability to put a team on his back when the season really matters. Progress isn’t normally a linear rise to stardom. |

I hear you. I just think there is plenty information out there that is free, I don't see why anyone would pay for it. And being the Athletic subscription went from $7.99 a month to a $1 I'd say the consumer has spoken. - PLindbergh31
Well, they offered me the 1st year at 29.99. The second year is set to renew at 59.99. In August.
If someone wants to do what the Athletic wants to do today, their analysis needs to be video based, not word based. Sad, but true. |

You should know better than to react to MJL by now. Especially his trolling when he tries to bait me by responding.
Instead, read what I am actually posting, rather than what you think I am posting based on his posts.
Its a good, balanced article. People here are just upset someone dared suggest the coronation of Hart as an elite goalie was not utterly inevitable.
Not once has Pronman said Hart will be a bad goalie or flame out. He has said the opposite, actually. |

Sports journalism is essentially an impossible task.
The surface stuff everyone can see. And everyone believes their opinion is just as good as others.
The depth stuff requires stats and hard work. Very few care about the former, so the hard work never gets put in. - PT21
Exactly....watch the prospects....watch the young players....watch the vets...form your own opinions. I find myself agreeing with a lot of the stuff I read but I also read stuff that makes no sense, that I find ranks as stupid. Just like around here. I could care less what ESPN says about who the top ten centres are....or what a guy like Pronman says about prospects...I listened to Meltzers podcast with Flyers asst. GM the other day....an actual guy that’s watching the prospects every day to get a good take on where there at. |

If the Flyers don’t make the playoffs, I’m leaning towards blaming Vigneault with all the line up changes every other game. |

In my opinion Ivan Provorov is the best player we’ve drafted within the passed 5 to 7 years. Carter Hart is a close second. |

Good. I did read what you posted after going back. What I will say from what you presented is that it makes sense to me that his sp is worse from those high danger areas because the breakdowns in those areas have been worse this year as compared to last due to the poor defensive play in front of him. As well, I think after a certain point he lost all confidence which compounded the issue. |

I think both will be big building blocks going forward. Some moves have to be made to help these guys out. The Gm Really f Ed us this year by not filling holes in the offseason. |

I agree. I was watching a game the other night. Can’t remember the team, but essentially they said they were icing the same lineup for like the 15th straight game.
Why doesn’t av say, gee we played pretty well for a couple games, let’s give this lineup a shot for a few games. He’s made lineup changes after wins ffs and I’m not talking in goal. |

He has made a number of moves....but I’m not sure what else he can do when guys who have played very good in the past are playing like poop. It’s not like he’s sitting guys who are playing good. |

Yeah, food for some thought is all I was putting forth.
It is striking though that the sv% has dropped so much in one area compared to the other, isn't it? I mean, if it was indeed a shell-shock issue, you would think the drop would be more spread out across different kinds of shots. |

I really wish the NHL would stop making the coaches wear masks on the bench.
While I’m at it making players wear masks in press conferences is just as stupid. |

Yeah but I think an nhl goalie is generally going to handle the shots from the outside regardless. If you start letting shots in from outside the dots you’re probably heading to the minors. |

I must have missed that article...because anything I’ve read from him with regards to Hart has not been enthusiastic about his future...more like a an average goalie in the making. To be fair he has said rating goalies is the toughest part of his job....can’t say I disagree with him because some of the comments I have found not to be very accurate at all.. |
