...and the Canucks could not score.

Ya, Buffalo is going to pass on a # 1 defenseman. Power and Dahlin with Eichel and Reinhart and Royster, and Middlestadt and Cozens and Jack Quinn. That team is going to be good, in a year or so, maybe sooner.
- Reubenkincade

I dont know if Powers will be a #1D in the truest sense of the word. More Ekblad than Hedman. Ekblad is still good but Hedman is great.

Either way Buffalo will be happy with him and Dahlin on the team.

What a load of sh*t. You fanboys are endless criers pumping out excuse after excuse.
- Marwood

Funny how a hater says that if anyone doesn't loath the Canucks. But what's your excuse for being such a downer, is it the only way you can rub one off...?

They may pass to eventually replace Eichal with another posterboy American C in Berniers. After all Isles passed on Hedman for faster flash on the ice JT.

Thanks for posting this Mini

I'd say if they take McTavish or Sillinger (centres) at 9

Bar, Mailloux or Ufko with the 2nd
Biuim, Hurtig, Del Mastro - with the 3rd

would be home runs to shore up the D

Who do you have if you were to choose D with 2nd and 3rd round picks??

I still don't believe the hype on McTavish as much as some.

I wouldn't draft Hurtig in the 3rd round. 19 year old that struggled in lower leagues in Sweden this year. I would be surprised if he is drafted this year.

Del Mastro I'm probably looking between 100-120.

I think picking 4 forwards and two left, two right D is fine with me.

Little bit of everything is needed.

I don't think there's much hype on anyone so picking McTavish could have upside and fills a couple big needs.

I actually have Hurtig with one of the 4th round picks.

Del Mastro is a harder to predict given he didn't play much.

I hope they target some bigger D - there's a few I'm checking out in the later rounds - Gallagher, Galloway, Groch, Lajoie, Legault, Ride, Schmidt.

I looked into defence this morning and ended up dropping Ty Gallagher and Galloway.

I wouldn't pass up better players for bigger players most of the time. I just look for who's best.

Not sure he will still be around, but Nolan Allan at 2nd would be pretty nice pick up. That Guillaume Richard kid was impressive at the u18 and a couple Qmjhl games I have seen him in. Jacke Matier with one of the 5ths would also be nice.

I haven't watched Allen yet

Richard - YES

Matier played 7 games all year - I'd be reluctant to draft kids that missed an entire year, that has to hurt their development.

I'm with you when it comes to defenders - no more shrimps. We need bigger guys that can actually defend and let Quinn and Rathbone do their thing = balance.

Balance is definitely the key, which is why I also hope the Canucks get McTavish, whether he is centre or winger in the NHL, he will be a solid forward that will be able to move up and down the lineup. His game reminds me of a cross between Bo and Mark Stone, very good at stealing the puck away from the other team.

A safe pick.

Probably but would you rather take a shrimp who can't defend in Adam fox who had 22 points in 25 games or his teammate Ryan Lindgren who is bigger, stronger, better defensively, who had 12 points in 25 games. Who was taken 17 picks earlier.

Oddly both now play for the Rangers and played 662 minutes together this season.

I would go Fox if I had a choice of 1.

Not true. In the 2019 draft, 11 defensmen were selected in the 3rd round. Also, pretty sure the Canucks picked some defenders last draft and they didn't have a pick in the 1st 2 rounds.

7th round picks - 16
6th round picks - 9
5th round picks - 20
4th round picks - 32
3rd round picks - 32
2nd round picks - 53
1st round picks - 101

So say 10 per round are picked. Take the 4th round because random. 2005 to 2017 played this season. 13 years of drafting say 10 per round. That's 130 picks during that time and there is currently 32 in the NHL.

Pretty much 2/3 out of 10 defenders picked per round would make the NHL. That's pretty picked through.

I'm not saying they aren't there but defenders are being picked higher and higher trying to find one. poop left behind.

I would rather/let Hughes & Rathbone (shrimps) focus on producing for the foreseeable future and let the other four-five guys focus on defense.

yes kinda

I meant unless Hughes and Rathbone are traded - they should be around for 3-7 years maybe more. They are the offensive guys on the backend - so building a bigger, stronger defensive unit around them through the draft or UFA signings isnt a bad idea.

Using Fox again.

You draft him in the 3rd and you can either keep him or trade one of the other offensive defensemen you have on the roster and using Fox get 2 picks which you can then use 1 pick to draft another BPA whether it be another offensive defence and use the other pick for a defensive defensemen. Always trading from a point of strength.

I wonder if any of these simulators would have different results if they eliminated the pick/s that Arizona doesn't get.
Ie, Canucks pick 40th,72nd etc

Arizona just forfeited their first rounder, that's all.
