I picked some crap players over the years and was pissed and proved wrong but that guy was such an obvious bad pick to me.

Remember when I said it was obvious he didn’t want to play for us because of his facial expression and that was pretty much the thread content for two months after?

The scouting reports were great on him. Big kid with excellent skating ability and potentially elite puck skills....Didn't help that the Isles were just awful at developing talent during that period. There was q lot of dissatisfaction amongst the kids at the Bridge during that period. Unfortunately there was a lot of self-entitlement too.

On the plus side, I argued endlessly with people that Hedman was the better pick over Duschene and Tavares

The team desperately needed an injection of excitement there was no way we couldn’t have picked Tavares. Hedman though not a bad pick by any means wasn’t the sexy pick. Also, like most defenseman it took Hedman quite a few years to become the player he is today. We didn’t have that time we needed some kind of instant gratification/positivity imo the club was in such a crap state we needed some hope. With that said Hedman would’ve been the better choice of course in the end but Tavares wasn’t a terrible pick either. We just didn’t know what kind of PJ’s he was wearing.
