Palmieri would be a good start.

Hypothetically speaking, would it make more sense to trade for a C and move Nelson back to LW?

Are there any halfway-decent centers out there?

edit: Getzlaf, I guess...but it seems like he doesn't want to move

agreed - but if they are able to land palmeiri i could see them grabbing a depth piece for the third line as well. i personally want hall because i think he will rebound, but think the team might be better with palmeiri plus a depth piece. hall comes with a risk but the upside is tempting.

No one wins with him.on their team now is that him or the teams he's been on? I think lou goes for the guy that scores and plays a two way game and fits in and thats palmeri

If he can get the Sabres to retain 50% of Hall they can just go ahead and get both

I would leave Nelson where he is, just my opinion

I think he gets Palmieri and some under the radar winger none of us are thinking about.

No but I will say it’s nice to finally have a GM that will probably do something exciting enough to warrant taking a day off.

Agreed. He’s quietly having himself a good season after a rough spot.

I agree. However, I will say that this system and potential linemates in Eberle and Barzal could make him as lethal as he's ever been. That said, I'd rather have Palmeri

Stop stealing my trade proposals

It’ll be pretty funny when this happens.

If Nashville decides to stop (frank)ing winning they could always go after Granlund too

Hall looks unbelievably terrible. I bet he has the potential to bounce back but even with the Sabres playing better recently he’s awful out there. The guy has checked out which to me is just one more reason to not want him. I would want him as a last resort at this point that’s it.

That was my initial thought. Zajac is the only other halfway decent option that comes to mind.

Who's gonna go to the net on that line is my question? I think teams will just pound on those guys as a line

You’re probably right. He’s rebounded since his atrocious start, so probably best to leave him be.

i mean hall literally has never been on a good team, so its hard to really say. but i think looking at him this year is also a disservice. that team is just brutal and i think he has been checked out for a while. hall has never been in a locker room like the isles have. so does he drag the whole team down with him, or are the isles a tight knit group where he can find his game again.

im not giving up a first for him - so if they can make a deal work for him without using a first, i think theres a ton of upside to be had.

but i do agree that palmeiri fits the team well and gives us more wiggle room to add more - which might be the better play.

That Ziggy guy with the gold hair was nuts. when No one was at the games I would see that dude every game (so I will give him that), but man he was a mutant for sure.

I hope all the HB GM’s have a subscription to The Athletic and read Staples article today on how Leo on the first line has worked.

Goldie was a fixture for years during the lean times for sure. Haven't seen him since somebody accused him of groping or some shat like that

I would leave the Nelson line intact. Palmieri is definitely their #1 target but can they give The Devils more than Boston. Or are they willing to give up more than someone else?
Lou wanted JGP last year and got him. You have to think he willing to give to get but this is a pure rental situation.
