Look for kucherov to be ready for tampa game 1. That $9.5M on LTIR enabled tampa to get compliant. Per capfriendly:
Tampa
PROJECTED CAP HIT Tooltip : $98,550,084
PROJECTED LTIR USED Tooltip : $17,050,084
PROJECTED CAP SPACE Tooltip : $0
Tampa's LTIR: $17,712,500 - i'mjustafan
Yeah I’m sure he had surgery just for the hell of it. |

Who decides though? Team doctors? Independent party? Seems real easy to take advantage of. - YouMeAndDupuis9
Team doctors clear a player to return to physical contact and resume normal play. The player can also say if/when he’s ready to actually play and you can’t decide on that so that’s 1 grey area. In Kucherovs case I’m sure no fan or player is dumb enough to think that if he’s ready for the last 5-10 games he isn’t gonna make them put a top player or multiple players on waivers to free him up to play those games. He will magically be ready for game 1 or 2 like Kane was.
This can be tied into the grey area of if a coach decides if they are in “game shape” to be able to play which you see it all the time a player takes full contact for a week or more and is still on LTIR but already cleared by a doctor. Said player doesn’t get pulled off LTIR till that game day which can be a players choice or coach after they have already been cleared for full contact by a doctor. Pens have already done this multiple times this year.
Im sure if Tanev and or Kapanen was on a schedule to be ready 4 ish games before the playoffs but the pens wanted to add and be over the cap he just wouldn’t be in “game shape” till game 1 and wouldn’t force the team to dress less skaters or put a star on waivers. |

Of course Philly/Bruins go to OT. That (frank)ing OT point is just maddening. |

Who is the #1 between DeSmith and Jarry? Who is the better tender? |

Kucherov example is poor. Returning to skating after surgery and being cleared to play are infinitely different things. - Feds91Stammer

I’d take Jarry over DeSmith but they are closer than we might think. It’s like 51%/49%. |

Honestly. If Tanev can’t play in the playoffs I’m good on trading and all that. Tanev is the one fun thing about watching the pens. |

You dont have to have surgery for the hell of it to cheat the system. Tampa would have had to blow up that roster to be cap compliant, of course they are juicing it.

Why was gaudreau put on the taxi squad yet jankowski is still playing? There are games that he and i have the same CF%. I would rather see gaudreau as 3rd line and angello as 4th line than see jankowski at all. - i'mjustafan
My guess is money/salary. I agree with you, Gaudreau and Angello have been playing well enough to wear a sweater every night.

I posted this thought on Ek's rumor page. If Palmieri return is anywhere near what Ek is saying what could the Pens get for Malkin RIGHT NOW. They have proved that they can play without him and the return for him now could not only help right now but in the future with a Number one pick from a bad team. Makes you go Hmmmmm - broncohorvath
A) Malkin has a No Movement Clause.
B) Hextall and Burke were hired with the direct orders to keep Malkin. Crosby also.
C) Why would a bad team trade a number one for Malkin, or anybody for that matter.
D) There has been a rumor floating around for years Malkin will go to the KHL before he goes to another NHL team.
E) They won a couple home games without him. They also lost to New Jersey twice and Boston put up a seven spot. They've proven nothing.

So When a player gets ‘sent’ to the taxi squad where do they go ? Not to WBS right ? Is it just a name thing and they stay in Pitt ? |
