I know it is Ek and not true
The deal is still "evolving" per sources, but is based around...The Islanders sending a first round pick, Bellows, Komarov and a possible prospect for Palmieri with the Devils retaining 50% salary...
But I'd do that deal
Komarov is not good but is a cap dump but gives us bellows who is pretty good, a 1st and a possible prospect
Not happening but I wouldn't be disappointed in that return |

Yeah i dont believe its happening but if thats the deal then that possible prospect better be one of their D(Salo, Wilde, or Bolduc) because thats essentially just Bellows and a 1st. I'm not a fan of Bellows being the center piece, i would straight up take him out and put one of those D instead tbh. I dont think his ceiling is that high and hes another body we'd need to protect in expansion, and possibly have to expose Sharangovich or Kuokkanen because of him. |

My guess is the additional prospect is not a real asset but someone included to help balance out the actual dollar cost to NJ for taking on Komarov and keeping 50% of Palmeri's salary. Sort of how David Quenneville came back on the Andy Greene trade last year. |

I would hope not, because thats a disappointing return. Just Bellows and a 1st, while taking on a cap dump and retaining salary on Palms is just a bad return tbh. Bellows just gives us expansion problems, on top of him being a bottom 6 NHL player at his ceiling. Take Bellows out and get one of the D prospects that have legit top 4 upside. Thats more acceptable |

If your team doesn't have expansion problems it may mean the team isn't good or have anyone worth anything
Can always work out deals with seattle to keep who we want |

Sure, but i'd rather not get a career 4th liner as the centerpiece of the return with as much money as we're taking back in that rumor. It just doesnt make any sense whatsoever. If Bellows is the main piece, we either just lose him to Seattle or we lose Kuokkanen or Sharangovich who both have a higher ceiling than Bellows. I'd prefer to just avoid the situation all together and replace him with one of their D prospects. Bellows just isnt a good piece. If anything, he should be the throw in in this rumor, not the "possible prospect." |

I agree with you but it seems unlikely the Islanders are offering a first, a legit D prospect and Bellows for Palms and us taking Leo K. Capdump. BUT if they are, that's a darn nice return. |

Yeah, just seems like too much for a guy who can go into free agency. Maybe they are talking with Palmieri's camp and have an extension in place so they are willing to give up having to deal with FA bidding, but even then feels like a stretch to get all of those pieces. |

Well yeah, because the whole thing isnt true lol. Its EK reporting it so we know its complete BS. Im still standing pat that we're only getting a 2nd and a B prospect, if its just for Palms. I don't think the owners will want to take a cap dump, and certainly won't take a cap dump as well as retain salary.
Nobody knows the offers that the Devils have on the table, not even the big dogs. Thats why there's literally nothing out there, its been dead silent outside of what teams have shown interest. |

I think teams are going to see if the Sabres are going to retain half of Hall's salary and then circle back for Palmieri after that is done with. So maybe we get a solid return but have to see how the market develops first. |

Yeah i agree with that. Im sure there are teams out there who value Hall more, and others who value Palmieri more. So you can argue both ways that Palmieri needs to be traded first, or that you want Hall traded first then try to get more. I personally think Hall is more valuable, so if Hall goes 1st then Palms value will drop or be capped.
The money could definitely play a big part in that though, Palms being essentially half of Hall is a big difference for some teams. Im just prepared for an underwhelming return |

For a team that is cap strapped chasing a cup, us retaining half of Palmieri makes it really easy to work him into the lineup. Maybe we catch a team really looking for a piece and they just overpay to try to make a run. This is a weird deadline and I'm not going to pretend I know what's going to happen. |

Yeah for sure. And i trust Fitz to make a good deal, so maybe i should have more faith. After his deadline last year, i'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that he can get a pretty good return in a so called "buyers market". I just feel like Bellows is the type of guy he would really like to add to this team, and would want as the main piece of the Palms return |
