You gotta think he has a lead on a goalie and what it will cost, but is going to give Freddie as long as possible before making that call.

I feel like he should do it anyway. Campbell and Freddie have not been healthy most of the season and I am not sure it looks like something that just suddenly gets better, for either of them.

MLSE has to have the best sports medicine people available. He’s not going to not listen to them. I don’t mean they’ll decide but they should be able to provide a pretty good sense of probabilities. Obviously that doesn’t cover some yahoo landing on them just like nothing covered Muzzin dying last year.

Unless he hears there’s a problem, he’s got higher priorities.

it would not surprise me to see him wait until the deadline to pull the trigger, unless some other team makes and acceptable offer for someone the Leafs are targeting. There is no rush. A few more days are not going to affect the Leafs' chances much.

My original point is that Kyle Dubas's statements to the media should never be taken at face value.

He has lied in the past. He will lie again.*

So any speculation based on his quotes should be taken with a healthy dose of skepticism.

* Again, this is good GM strategy.
