Devil's advocate but he was also -9 last year, Minnesota got rid of him and got better
- Takemedrunkimhome

In that case, I hope they don't trade for Eichel and his -9 anytime soon then!

Who was he playing with at Minny? I don’t watch them close enough
- habs88888

Staal as a second line center reeks of the desperation seen in the 90s Leafs teams, thinking an almost over-the-hill player will solve their problems and make everything perfect, (frank)ing over youth and development and player progression.

Whatever.

Perry... Staal.... if they are Habs core players, then this team is going nowhere.

get used to it. for the next 3 months, Habs are not in the develoment business. they're in the win now business.

Not saying it should be experience over youth, this is a test and learn to see what he can do. That being said, whatever happens next few games if it works I hope they stick with it until something breaks

Or the youth could learn a thing or 2 from future hall of famers and Stanley Cup Champions?

Yeah, as complimentary players, not 2nd line centers.

Meh... too much time spent on line numbers! When Caufield comes up, this team will be rolling 4 lines like very few can, I don't see an issue

Depending on their play any one of Edmonton, Winnipeg, or Habs could play the Leafs.

By giving them easier matchups? The kids are 20 and 21... if they're rushed, fans claim they're ruining their development, I they're not thrust right into the fire as 20 year olds, fans claim they're ruining their development... there is no winning formula with this fan base!!

Marry me !

I dont get his rant on Staal being 2nd center in a PRACTICE

They do understand it could change in the 2n period right ?

Also, would can honnestly complaint about Perry ? On top of it at the minimum wage ! Thye both just bring experience and size for the next 2 months

Also #2, the only point where I agree a little is keep Kit kat with better winger, lets Suzuki go on the 4th for a game or 2..., that might wake him up !

I am just tired of the bullpoop lack of consistent strategy.

We went from signing poop-bottom-of-the heap veterans, wasting picks on trades, and not drafting / development properly for 7+ years.

Then we went kids and work on development and progression.

Now we are back to over-the-hill veterans taking key roles, chucking the kids to the bottom of depth charts and hoping some college kid comes and save the day by scoring a bunch of goals.

Like... WTF.

Seriously.

This team and management is too damn (frank)ing chicken poop to pick a plan and stick to it, other than to keep getting old guys no one really wants to put in key roles.

with the schedule Montreal is about to embark on they're highly unlikely to gain any ground in the standings. although i guess the disaster in Vancouver could give them a bit of relief potentially.

I WILL!!

And Kotkaniemi will only be with those particular wingers until Caufield comes up, introducing Big Goal Cole to the lineup will force Ducharme to change things up once again... and yea, lines can change anytime during the game...

They had a weakness at C! Without compromising any of the future, Bergy acquired a player that certainly makes them better down the middle, who cares if he's on the 2nd or 3rd line? Hell Danault has no business on the top line either
