If you are OK saying we have 3 eligible players to compare to tampa 6 guys (hopefully)

Coots for Stamkos
? For kucherov
? For point
Provy for Hedman
? For mcdonaugh
Hart for vasilevsky

Huge bits of hope but again let's just say it can be seen like that. If we move out all other big contracts and only keep our mid tier. The mid tier players I described are easily comparable to the lightnings. And I would argue our prospects on elc surpass what the lightning currently have.

So close the gap. Do you need to talk?

Would you consider johny hockey or Patrick Laine as fillers of those voids ? Could they be attainable? I certainly think so to the latter.

How about dougie Hamilton or Seth Jones? I also think they could be obtained. If we meet the price.

Make those additions and are we suddenly contenders ?

Provy is nowhere near Hedman. Hart however could be Vasilevsky or even more possibly. We do not have wingers like Kucherov.

If you want that kind of players, you are either going to have gamble for several years of high drafting (and be prepared that there are no guarantees) or gamble on a young player in FA/OS (extreme example), again understanding there are no guarantees.

No to Laine and JG btw. Big yes to Seth. Moderate yes to Dougie, depending on price. He is a UFA after this year, right? And a Rightie.

I think Provorov is closer in the conversations in top 10 for defensemen in the league, than Sean Couturier top 10 for centers in the league.

It was a poll of 20 guys, scattered across franchises. 13 of them ranked him outside top 10. They gave points for how highly he was ranked.

Some GM ranked him #2! That snuck him just in the top 10. That one outlier.
