That’s a missed trip. Of course. - arichardson22
I wonder if Jake has a bit of a reputation with the refs for flopping. Not the first time this season he gets tripped up and the refs just let it go. |

Jake was tripped in the defensive zone and the refs either didn't see it or just flat out ignored it. Even Jonesy stated it was a missed call. Not Jake's fault on this occasion! - aantny88
Well Coatsy though Jake needed to be stronger on his skates, its all a matter of perspective

Then they should call him for embellishment if that's the case, rather than ignoring a clear penalty. Then of course a similar penalty occurs on the Flyers and they call it. Same effin story whenever they play the Bruins. |

I know this game is difficult to ref, but at this level blatant trips in the opponents zone must be called. It does not matter what the players rep is, and that was a whiff by the official directly leading to a goal. Nothing will happen to that ref, because there is no accountability. |

New me? I kind of liked the old me. This "me" may be more problematic. You're not going to become another PT21 are you? - Letterkenney
I'm considering it. Any objections?

Sorry, but I don't value Coatsy's "perspective". Jonesy knows his $hit and is on national telecasts because of it. |

It's funny how they can let a game go on for minutes on end before calling everything back after an inch of offsides... but a (frank)ing trip that directly leads to a goal? Nope. |

He should be released really.
Overall, good period imo. What I like most is the physicality. They need to match Boston and not just take it like games before. Moose played well. Keep it up and at least this will be a good game. |

If you were forced to be a Flyers homer night after night, wouldn't you be hitting the sauce a bit too? |

Be careful. He will absolutely zing you by asking if you have been waived and claimed by another board. Isn't that evidence of wit?
Then, not content, he will zing you ten more times with the same line. On the same day. Ain't that something?
It will be like listening to Lenny Bruce. After 10 valiums. |

Well, I will have a crack as I always do: you close that gap by first and foremost accepting that we are not on that track irrespective of what happens and who develops and who doesn't. That top tier that you posted is where I think the most critical gap lies.
Top players, even if they are drafted outside the top, fairly rarely bloom late. They start showing signs of stardom precociously. Further, their trajectory is less volatile and there are less ups and downs. The late bloomers often turn into decent players but it is rare they are start with being merely decent and then develop into top stars. (Iotw, I am skeptical that Konecny for instance will ever develop into a winger like Kucherov or anything in that realm).
Second, you understand that there are no short cuts in sports or life, and you are not going to get a fun team to watch every night and also contend for the cup in one of those years. It essentially never happens. Currently, we are of course behind the old powers; BOS, Caps, Vegas, TB, Blues. The juggernaut coming is Avs.Next on the realm will be NJ, Rangers, Vancouver, Ottawa.
Third you put the previous two 2gether, and accept what 4 means. You have to gamble with the draft or with the FA. A failure to do that is essentially a continual tryst with mediocrity that is our club now. - PT21
Well..
If you are OK saying we have 3 eligible players to compare to tampa 6 guys (hopefully)
Coots for Stamkos
? For kucherov
? For point
Provy for Hedman
? For mcdonaugh
Hart for vasilevsky
Huge bits of hope but again let's just say it can be seen like that. If we move out all other big contracts and only keep our mid tier. The mid tier players I described are easily comparable to the lightnings. And I would argue our prospects on elc surpass what the lightning currently have.
So close the gap. Do you need to talk?
Would you consider johny hockey or Patrick Laine as fillers of those voids ? Could they be attainable? I certainly think so to the latter.
How about dougie Hamilton or Seth Jones? I also think they could be obtained. If we meet the price.
Make those additions and are we suddenly contenders ? |

Just a missed call...and worse it led to a goal. Flyers can’t wilt though....the pathetic PK has to step up tonight. |
